Trempealeau County has created a new position to lead the County’s growth in Parks, Tourism and Economic Development. This new position has the potential to be fully developed and molded by the person selected for this unique job opportunity, under the guidance of the Parks, Tourism and Economic Development Committee.

Trempealeau County is seeking candidates with strengths in: marketing, public outreach, public speaking, local development, local/state/ federal programs and policies relating to economic development, leadership, organizational skills, a business mindset and self-driven attitude.

This position will have a wide range of duties that may change as the position becomes more developed. Some of those duties include: manage seasonal park staff and projects in collaboration with the Department of Land Management, promote and educate the public on various programs with regards to economic development activities and grants, work with local, state and federal organizations to meet the needs of local community groups, and much more!

This is a great opportunity to get on the ground floor of a new position and help develop it and the community it supports. The work is performed under the day to day direction of the Director of Land Management; policy direction will come from the Parks, Tourism and Economic Development Committee.

The purpose of this position is to assist Trempealeau County in Tourism, Parks and Economic Development, and its communities in their efforts to promote tourism, economic retention, expansion, growth, and development as it pertains to Trempealeau County. Responsible for administration and managing the maintenance, development and day to day operations of county parks. The work is performed under the day to day direction of the Director of Land Management and policy direction from the Parks, Tourism and Economic Development Committee.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Community/Economic Development, Planning, Marketing, Business, Park, Recreation or Tourism Management, Public Administration or other related field, required. 
  • 3-5 years progressively responsible related experience (grant, project management, marketing, business assistance, community services, planning, public speaking and development) or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities. 
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and be able to demonstrate effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience in using social media as a marketing source desired. 
  • Valid motor vehicle operator’s license required.

Starting Pay Range: $ 23.17—26.32 per hour.

Trempealeau County’s compensation plan includes annual wage step increases for employees as well as a potential cost of living increase.

HEALTH INSURANCE

Trempealeau County contributes 88% of the lowest cost plan. Employee contribution varies depending on the Plan selected.

RETIREMENT

Trempealeau County and the employee each pay 50% of the actuarially required contribution to the Wisconsin Retirement Fund. 2017 General Rate Employer Share – 6.8% Employee Share – 6.8%

VACATION

Vacation is accrued per pay period based on years of service, starting at 12 days per year up to 25 days per year.

New Year's Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve Day, Christmas Day, Personal Holiday.

SICK LEAVE

Sick is accrued per pay period based, up to 12 days per year.
