Madison College is seeking a passionate, creative, and conscientious Public Relations (PR) and Digital Media Strategist to manage our media relations, uncover storytelling opportunities, help maintain the integrity of our public image and align messaging with our Marketing and Public Relations strategic plan.

This position will involve building relationships and story opportunities with traditional and growing news and media outlets. You'll seek and pitch stories that support the Madison College brand and mission. You'll communicate with local and industry media while also seeking new outlets such as podcasts, blogs, trade publications and more.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates public relations strategy, media relations, media and public inquiries, coverage pickup and share of voice in alignment with objectives set forth by the Marketing and Public Relations team.
  • Proactively uncovers and develops outreach and story opportunities that drive program enrollment at Madison College over multiple channels, from local TV news to newspaper to industry podcasts and more.
  • Collaborates with Social Media Strategist, Community Relations team and various Madison College stakeholders to develop engaging and relevant media support that drives enrollment, engagement and retention to multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Partners with college stakeholders and local media to provide coverage of and guidance related to college events and initiatives to ensure alignment of overall PR goals and strategy.


  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or related field.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in public relations, media strategy, digital media and content writing. 
  • Demonstrated experience in digital and traditional channels and knowledge of how to leverage content to maximize results. 
  • Strong strategic and tactical understanding of digital media including social media. 
  • Experience in storytelling and openness to identify unique stories that can be told on multiple platforms.


  • Minimum of three to five years of digital public relations and/or digital marketing experience. 
  • Experience to include working in public relations, journalism, or communications. 
  • PR experience in education a plus.
