Position Details

PR & Social Media Manager
Twin Cities Metro
Eagan, MN

Position Overview:

You will work directly with the Manager, Integrated Content Strategy to lead and manage public relations and social media programs to support Marvin’s brand-building, sales and thought leadership goals. You will take ownership of the company’s social media presence (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Houzz, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube) and recommend creative strategies to improve our positioning and maximize results from social campaigns. You will also lead our external communications program, using creative public relations tactics to position Marvin as a valuable editorial resource for trade and consumer media. You’ll lead press tours, plan events, and turn complex, technical topics into compelling, sticky stories that our media partners can’t resist reading and sharing. A successful candidate will be as comfortable writing engaging social posts as they are pitching media for our latest product innovation, and they won’t be afraid of digging into performance metrics to identify and leverage opportunities for constant improvement.


Media Relations (45% time allocation)

  • Build and maintain relationships with trade and consumer media
  • Field incoming media inquiries; fulfill requests for company or product information, images, interviews, etc.
  • Work with integrated marketing agency team to craft and pitch creative, innovative story angles to generate editorial exposure
  • Research, write, and edit public relations communication tools (e.g., press releases, fact sheets, case studies)
  • Craft award submissions and manage any press outreach/marketing support for winning entries
  • Coordinate news release distribution
  • Maintain media database
  • Track media coverage
  • Manage trade and consumer editorial calendars
  • Collaborate with public relations agency partner

Social Media (45% time allocation)

  • Lead execution and management of company’s social media channels
  • Work with Manager, Integrated Content Strategy and integrated marketing agency team to develop comprehensive social media strategy for the brands
  • Lead development, review and management of monthly content calendars
  • Coordinate with channel, brand and sales teams to support current or future campaigns with social media marketing support
  • Monitor and track social media comments and questions; respond to inquiries when appropriate
  • Use social monitoring software to monitor and track online conversations for the brands and competitors
  • Develop monthly reports on social media activity and opportunities; identify performance opportunities and develop recommendations to improve effectiveness of campaigns
  • Collaborate with social media agency partner

Tradeshows & Events (10% time allocation)

  • Lead planning and implementation of media relations and social media activity in support of industry tradeshows
  • Provide support for pre-and post-event communications
  • Lead the development of communications plans designed to enhance the brand’s presence at tradeshows
  • Write media alerts, news releases, product fact sheets, blog content, newsletter copy, and social media content
  • Assist in media pitching pre- and post-event, when appropriate
  • Attend tradeshows and other marketing events to assist, as needed, with media interviews, product demonstrations, etc.
  • Assist in the coordination of event logistics, when appropriate

  • Ability to travel, including overnights (approximately 10%)
