Milwaukee Repertory Theater is seeking a PR Assistant to join the Marketing team! The PR Assistant will work with the PR & Content Director to execute day-to-day communications related to Public Relations and social media. Responsibilities include supporting all efforts related to media and developing social media strategies and tactics to maximize Milwaukee Rep’s digital footprint.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Public Relations

  • Assist in the writing of compelling, accurate media releases
  • Staff/Coordinate on and offsite interviews/appearances for artists
  • Coordinate opening night press needs and work the press table at these events
  • Maintain photo and video archives and coordinate distribution of photo and video media

Social Media

  • Support supervisor in research and writing of social media content Schedule postings and monitor social media accounts
  • Provide support to Social Media Club, as directed

Publications and Content

  • Provide support for show/programs/playbills including research, requesting bios, and proofing/writing of bios and other content
  • Assist with additional writing as directed, for postcards, website, emails, blogs, and marketing sales letters

Additional Support

  • Represent Milwaukee Rep at on and offsite events, conferences and festivals (may include evening and weekend hours)
  • Contribute to Marketing Dept's event planning, coordination and execution
  • Support and collaborate with other marketing team members, as directed, on project by project basis

Desired Qualficiations:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, or Sales with 1-2 years of experience
  2. Familiarity with and passion for the Performing Arts
  3. Excellent writing and editing skills, and ability to conceive and shape compelling content
  4. Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn new skills
  5. Highly organized, able to create streamlined workflow structures and processes
  6. Able to prioritize and multitask without compromising quality to meet strict deadlines
  7. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite platforms
  8. In-depth knowledge of Facebook, Facebook Ads Manager, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, SnapChat, and YouTube marketing
  9. Proficiency with social media management tools such as Hootsuite
  10. Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, etc)a plus
  11. Demonstrated experience in basic understanding of HTML code a plus
  12. Must be able to work some evenings and weekends, on occasion
  13. Ability to maintain a valid drivers license is required for this position, and access to a personal car is a plus
Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate in person and on the phone.  This position semi-frequently lifts, carries, or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.

This position is salaried between $28,000-$29,500 commensurate with experience. Additionally, benefits include health and dental insurance, with no cost to the employee for premiums and paid time off package.
