3rd Coast PR is looking for an entry-level Intern. An Intern must possess good interpersonal and communications skills in order to work effectively with a variety of account service staff within a specific set of accounts. S/he must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to adapt to new conditions, assignments and deadlines.

Administrative

  • Assist account team with account related administrative tasks

Client Servicing

  • Strive to understand the basic principles of PR
  • Familiarity with key clients
  • General account service administration
  • Assist with project coordination
  • Compilation of media coverage to client
  • Participate in program planning through research and compilation

Media Relations

  • Read and identify media clips from clipping services and online resources
  • Maintain client press clippings
  • Format clips per client specifications
  • Organize clips per client specifications
  • Observe proactive media relations
  • Assist in press tour logistics
  • Prepare press kits for distributionUnderstand clients’ top-tier media
  • Carry out media pitching calls and emails
  • Assist in writing press kit pieces (fact sheet, tip sheet, bios, etc) and general PR materials
  • Participate in brainstorms
  • Knowledge of AP style
  • Write memos to vendors
  • Research, outline, and assist in writing media advisories, bios, conference reports
  • Assist in writing pitch letters and/or email pitches and product fact sheets 
  • Strive to achieve basic understanding of key client information, including general business strategy, industry issues, products and services, key customers and competitors in the marketplace
  • Research brand information
  • Understand research and media list building tools
  • Able to execute comprehensive searches and relay information in a timely and organized fashion

The Intern is expected to be in the process of pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a related field and have an interest in pursing a career in public relations while completing the internship for academic credit (not compensated).
