PR Supervisor - Corporate Media Relations Strategy

Golin Chicago is looking for an experienced Senior Manager (Supervisor level), Corporate Media Relations to develop media and executive visibility strategy and lead execution that keeps our clients relevant with top media and influencers within our Corporate Practice. You’ll build strong media and influencer relationships with top media outlets and always be on the lookout for opportunities that lead to coverage. You’ll transform corporate milestones and data into compelling stories and become trusted counsel to senior clients. We are looking for a strong leader and counselor with the ability to think cross platform by contributing to an integrated team.

What you’ll do:

  • Guide media strategies and counsel clients regarding media strategy and executive positioning 
  • Regularly generate media coverage for clients with top-tier business and financial media ranging from The Wall Street Journal and Reuters to Forbes and BusinessWeek to CNBC – as well as industry trade media 
  • Ability to quickly grasp business issues/trending news topics and connect the dots in order to create timely media opportunities for clients 
  • Maintain strong working relationships with key business media 
  • Experience placing bylined articles and op-eds 
  • Develop strong media pitches and secure stories with trade media and influencers 
  • Manage multiple media relations projects for various clients, delivering results on time and on budget 
  • Convey complex information around issues, adeptly dealing with difficult media situations 
  • Work on multiple projects at one time 
  • Immerse self in clients’ industries, brands and past media coverage 
  • Mentor, support junior team members

What you have:

  • 5+ years of media relations experience is required, ideally within a corporate setting 
  • Experience securing national media coverage across all mediums (broadcast, newspapers, magazines and online) a must 
  • Good understanding and daily usage of social media 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and media monitoring 
  • BA/BS in Journalism, English, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field 
  • Knowledge of top-tier business and national consumer media, and well-developed-skills in building and maintaining traditional and digital media relationships 
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with clients on day-to-day activities, managing up to Director 
  • Flawless execution of public relations plans 
  • Experience drafting and implementing communications programs within budget 
  • Excellent writing skills in Associated Press style with the ability to develop and edit high-quality materials including; communications plans, media POV’s, press materials, fact sheets, bylined articles, trend analysis summaries, executive correspondence, and presentations. 
  • Entrepreneurial attitude with a knack for building trusted relationships with clients and internal team members
