The Production Designer, Packaging Design will support all aspects of production, ensuring that the creative concept passed from the design team is executed to brand standards. They will work in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders to track, process and release complete/accurate art files to vendors resulting in quality deliverables for Crate & Barrel and Crate & Kids.

This position is a hybrid based out of our Northbrook, Illinois

A day in the life as a Production Designer, Packaging Design…

  • Support Creative Brand Team with production design 
  • Create and/or prepare files for print under the direction of Band Design team leads
  • Collaborate with Design Team to make physical and/or digital mockups for presentations 
  • Implement new procedures, when required 
  • Manage project schedules and provide status updates, when necessary 
  • Collaborate with designers and print buyers to achieve sustainability goals 
  • Support all efforts and initiatives across brand channels

What you’ll bring to the table…

  • Possess strong typography skills and understanding of brand guidelines 
  • Basic knowledge of color correction and print processes to review and edit color proofs 
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written 
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at once 
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills Ability to problem-solve creatively

We’d love to hear from you if you have…

  • Must provide a link to portfolio (including password) on resume or provide PDF samples of packaging work. 
  • 2+ year previous related work experience in graphic or production design 
  • Love and mastery of Typography is required 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related field 
  • Proficient in macOS platform and software including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign 
  • Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). 
  • Experience with project management software - Workfront, Asana, etc - a plus
