Supporting the Sr. Channel Lead of Programmatic Media, the Programmatic Media Specialist will contribute to the channel strategy development, campaign set-up, management, optimization, analysis and reporting of Grainger's programmatic media budget across display, native, mobile, video and paid social. Additional responsibilities include analytical support for Programmatic Media channel planning, budgeting, and forecasting. The Programmatic Media Specialist will promote communication, development, and follow-up on actions items with our core external media partners. The Programmatic Media Specialist will also represent the channel in end-to-end planning, optimization and management of new marketing projects stemming from our Marketing Collaboration Teams. The results of these efforts will be an essential contribution to the success of the Programmatic Media team and align closely to the main goals of the broader Grainger business. You will report to the Programmatic Media Sr. Channel Lead.

You Will:

Channel Ownership:

  • Oversee in-house media buying and optimization of core display campaign. 
  • Manage daily, weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc reporting efforts 
  • Provide analytical support for ad-hoc analyses that can produce valuable insights and improve performance – cross channel analysis, profitability analysis 
  • Partner with our DSP team for ad-hoc requests and opportunities. 
  • Work with our creative ad-server team to develop, coordinate, test and report on A/B tests. 
  • Manage display channel budget reporting, reconciliation and invoicing. 
  • Opportunity to manage additional channels like paid social, YouTube, CTV, audio, etc.

Cross-Department Campaign Plans:

  • Represent programmatic media team across departments including Customer Growth Strategy, Mass Media, Marketing Data Optimization, Creative, Analytics, etc. 
  • Support programmatic media campaign planning, set-up, performance and results for select incremental campaigns and programs.

Audience Targeting & Innovation:

  • Channel lead for ideation and implementation of DMP audience segments. (In collaboration with Marketing Data Optimization Team) 
  • Manage monthly media channel test and learn roadmap and results.

You Have:

  • 2+ years' experience planning and managing media campaigns; preferably across multiple DSP's. 
  • At least 1 year of hands-on media buying experience. 
  • Bachelor's Degree required; preferably in business or marketing. 
  • Experience with programmatic buying and optimization levers. 
  • Experience in providing recommendations, communicating results and representing channel plans. 
  • Experience working with teams & brands. 
  • Experience leading campaign programs from start to finish – including planning, launching, optimizing and reporting. 
  • Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets), and exposure to financial planning and analysis. 
  • Creative; previous example(s) of improving processes or creating novel marketing approaches. 
  • Experience with DMP's (Data Management Platforms) and Audience segmentation. 
  • Based in Downtown, Chicago Office 
  • Occasional Representation in Lake Forest Headquarters 
  • This position has a direct impact on the efficiency and effectiveness of our digital marketing spend through the design, testing and optimization of our in-house media campaigns. 
  • This position also has responsibility for auditing; processing and documenting channel spend in accordance to plan. 
  • Impact of errors would be confined to a specific area of the company and would like be of nominal cost.

Who does this job partner with externally?

Works closely with vendor partners, such as our DSP provider, dynamic creative ad server, third party audience partners, or ABM technology. This role may occasionally meet with other third party agencies to provide feedback and advice on creative and audience targeting.
