Bolton & Menk is looking for a confident and passionate individual to join our team as a Project Communications Specialist in the Twin Cities Metro. As a Project Communication Specialist, you will be responsible for the support and implementation of external communications and community outreach efforts for moderately complex to complex engineering and planning related projects ranging from studies, planning, construction, and other industry-related efforts.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead projects and executes public engagement planning and development of engagement tools, including content development and coordination of production. 
  • Communicates multi-channel outreach and inquiry responses with businesses and residents affected by planning and engineering related activities. 
  • Writes and edits frequent project updates and other content for print and online communications, including websites, social media, and newsletters. 
  • Coordinates the development of planning project and program handouts, graphics, maps, and other collateral materials. 
  • Meets with internal stakeholders, including project managers, and coordinates with other related county activities and initiatives. 
  • Plans and attends public meetings and events (i.e., project open houses). 
  • Maintains project contact information database and generate regular reports. 
  • Assists with meetings with project stakeholders, including local businesses and residents, to communicate project updates and gain background information on any special needs they may have. 
  • Assists in development and implementation of public information plans for projects. 
  • Supports business development strategies for services and works with senior level team on strategies and proposal content. 
  • Travel to facilities and other projected related locations as necessary.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field from an accredited College or University with three or more years’ experience in writing marketing communications such as such as press releases, newsletters, infographics, email, website content, and social media preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • Advanced skills with desktop publishing software (i.e. InDesign). 
  • Advanced skills with Social Media Applications (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.) 
  • Beneficial skills include graphic design capabilities, experience with Adobe Photoshop, basic understanding of the AEC industry, knowledge of marketing/client databases, knowledge of proposal processes. 
  • Strong skills in client needs assessment, meeting quality standards for service, and evaluation of client satisfaction. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent composition, grammar and proofreading skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills. 
  • Possess a valid driver’s license as travel to various job sites may be required.
