Proposal Writer

Job Overview:

The Proposal Writer will work under the management of the Proposal Administrator. The responsibilities will revolve around the gathering of information, formatting it according to company policies and translating solutions into well-written proposals for delivery to the client.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Participates along with Proposal Administrator in proposal concept meetings and translates solutions into well-written proposals 
  • Outlines and organizes submittals to be responsive to client requirements, including introduction, overview, project approach and cover letter. 
  • Uses company templates for proposals in order to maintain a sense of consistency within the department 
  • Provide graphic and visual design support for certain projects 
  • Edit and revise proposals according to direction from Proposal Administrator given by executives 
  • Support production efforts such as desktop publishing formatting, light editing, print/electronic production, printing, copying, tab covers and producing binders.
  • Support final proposal preparation, print/electronic production and delivery to the customer 
  • Balance workload to meet daily deadlines and to prioritize responsibilities 
  • Participates in ongoing continuous improvement of the proposal development process


  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. Business, Communications, English, Journalism, Business Writing, etc.) or equivalent work experience 
  • 2+ years of writing and editing experience with experience working with Federal Government contracts and proposals a plus 
  • Superior verbal communication and public speaking skills 
  • Knowledge of strategic planning concepts 
  • MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) including Office 365

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications or Journalism or similar area of study 
  • 2+ years' experience of writing and editing, with Federal Government contracts and proposals experience a plus 
  • U.S. Citizenship required
