Eaton’s Power Systems Division is currently seeking a Proposals Manager to join our team. This position is based at our Waukesha, WI facility.

Position Overview:

Supervise and coordinate activities of 15 Senior Product Specialists, Product Specialists, Proposal Analysts and contractors who prepare transformer proposals and cleanse orders. Responsible for managing daily operations for the department including management of personnel, resolution of agent issues related to quotes and orders, interfacing with outside sales agents and management. Also responsible for leading continuous improvement initiatives, within the function, in support of the overall business improvement initiatives and strategy.

In this function you will:

  • Prioritize, plan, organize, and control work flow in a team environment. 
  • Assure an effective and skilled staff through recruiting, assessment of talent (find gaps and follow action plans to fill gaps), training & development, goal setting, communications, performance appraisal, and conformance to applicable company policies. Provide leadership and direction to ensure professional growth for employees and retention 
  • Establish and monitor goals and provide performance feedback through data analysis, as needed, for direct reports 
  • Improve department effectiveness through process improvement, utilizing lean tools to streamline the quote and order processes to improve speed, accuracy, and customer experience 
  • Work closely with sales management, sales reps, agents, and technical support staff to meet and/or exceed the transformer sales objectives for Power Systems Division 
  • Occasional travel to manufacturing plants, and customer or agent locations, to resolve problems and/or improve relations

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar discipline from an accredited institution. 
  • Minimum of 5 years in Manufacturing or the Electrical Industry 
  • Minimum of 2 years Supervisory or Leadership Experience 
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future 
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. 
  • Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Waukesha, WI will be considered. 
  • Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree 
  • Supervisory experience in an engineer-to-order environment 
  • Demonstrated experience driving continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, MVP, Greenbelt) 
  • Product, customer service, inside sales, or proposals experience in a technical field 
  • Experience using ERP (SAP is a plus) and quotation system

Position Criteria:

  • Knowledge of electric power distribution transformers and their components and accessories 
  • Knowledge of typical applications, equipment, systems and standards for electric power distribution transformers
  • Desire to teach and mentor direct reports 
  • Excellent oral, interpersonal and written skills with the ability to effectively communicate 
  • Detail oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work to deadlines with a high degree of accuracy 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), SAP or other ERP related system and the ability to utilize such tools to analyze data and solve routine problems
