Organization & Position Summary:
The Arc Minnesota promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, actively supporting them and their families in a lifetime of full inclusion and participation in their communities.
This position is responsible for leadership of organization-wide public policy and systems change efforts. This position will:
- Achieve our state and federal public policy, legislative advocacy, systems change, and voter engagement goals in partnership with The Arc Minnesota staff, members, self-advocates, and the broader disability community;
- Directly engage people who have lived experience – specifically leaders who have intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and disability community members who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color – in creating policy and systems change proposals, as well as in grassroots advocacy efforts to build a more equitable society;
- Represent The Arc Minnesota in public events, strategic coalitions, and meetings with elected officials, agency staff, the media, partner organizations, and external stakeholders;
- Demonstrate and model The Arc Minnesota’s values of Human and Civil Rights, Self-Advocacy and Self-Direction, Equity and Belonging, and Disability and Racial Justice – Internally and externally.
