Public Communications Inc. (PCI) seeks an experienced and passionate account executive who wants to make a substantial contribution to our agency in the conservation sector. We’re looking for a candidate who can execute communications programs and deploy social media campaigns, pitch media, and capture the public’s attention with messages that move public perception and inspire action on behalf of wildlife and environmental conservation.

  • Can juggle multiple responsibilities and projects at the same time and can work under deadline pressure, meeting client and media needs. 
  • Can communicate complex ideas and issues in simple ways that are easy for the public to understand.

In this role, you will:

  • Play a critical role in communications programs for clients in conservation, helping clients advance their marketing, communications and public relations initiatives. 
  • Identify newsworthy opportunities to share client stories; and craft compelling materials that can be used by clients through a variety of channels to elevate their storytelling. 
  • Understand complex issues and stay current on trends and issues in wildlife conservation, animal care and welfare. 
  • Commit to continual learning and improvement of skills by participating in professional development and setting and exceeding annual goals. 
  • Earn the respect of our clients by delivering smart, creative and pragmatic solutions while collaborating with our team of senior counselors to drive successful results.
  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or related coursework. Advanced degree/coursework welcome. 
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of professional public relations or communications experience working in a relevant industry. 
  • Previous experience working in an agency setting or in-house at an environmental or conservation advocacy organization, zoo, aquarium, sanctuary or other wildlife care specialty organization is strongly preferred. 
  • A solid understanding and interest in wildlife care, conservation and environmental issues.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in national media relations to drive earned placements. 
  • Understand social media and digital communications, including how to integrate these tactics for campaigns.
