This person provides support to a highly collaborative public relations team. Strong interpersonal skills are required to successfully manage multiple assignments while working closely with members of the public relations team. Creative development responsibilities may include writing and editing of company blog articles, social media posts, media releases/advisories, videos and other communications projects as assigned. The person would be employed for a part-time (20 hours/week) internship over a six-month period.

Accountabilities:

  • Write and edit blog articles, news releases, advisories, and additional content for external and internal audiences. 
  • Assist with social media content creation and monitoring. Accountabilities may include creating and scheduling social media posts, channel monitoring; and assisting with timely responses to questions and comments. 
  • Support the company’s social media ambassador program, including encouraging and supporting interns to bring additional visibility to company news and activities via their personal accounts 
  • Assist with media reporting/news scans for relevant company and industry coverage. 
  • Load media releases to the company website and state media wire. 
  • Assist with creation of reports that show earned, social and owned media impressions and coverage highlights. 
  • Provide support for and conduct research for public relations staff as part of communication planning efforts as requested.

Requirements:

  • College student or recent college graduate 
  • Communications or related major with intent to stay in a communications-related field 
  • 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale 
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills and a clear understanding of AP Style 
  • Proficiency with online tools and technology, including social media platforms

Preferred Requirements:

  • Communications/Journalism majors preferred 
  • Previous experience helpful but not necessary 
  • Interest in health care helpful but not necessary
