PURPOSE:

To drive traffic and generate sales for MOA and its tenants. To assist in the dissemination of key messages of MOA and promote MOA as the premier retail and entertainment complex.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute enterprise storytelling initiatives that align with business objectives, brand values, and corporate strategy to position Mall of America as an industry leader.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to source and shape authentic stories that reinforce MOA’s cultural, economic, and community impact.
  • Assist with developing communication plans for high-impact campaigns, initiatives, and major announcements.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with national, regional, and trade media across lifestyle, travel, retail, business, and entertainment news outlets.
  • Monitor media trends to identify proactive storytelling opportunities.
  • Develop media strategies and pitch stories that secure high-value press coverage in top-tier outlets.
  • Manage national media requests and television shows and work closely with onsite production teams.
  • Assist in developing strategic communications to support government relations goals and communicate key policy priorities.
  • Assist in managing and coordinating crisis communications and reputation management efforts to minimize negative impact on the Mall.
  • Support executive visibility through thought leadership opportunities.
  • Analyze media coverage and PR campaign performance to evaluate impact and inform future strategies.
  • Support production and generate unique and engaging ideas for the Mall of America podcast, So Much More.
  • Identify new ways to promote the podcast to increase listenership.
  • Manage Public Relations team.
  • Assist with writing and editing press releases. 
  • Regular, reliable and consistent attendance.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in media relations, communication and journalism.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of creativity, initiative, and flexibility.
  • Excellent storytelling and presentation skills
  • Ability to work and respond effectively under pressure.
  • Proven ability to lead and foster a strong team.
  • Previous experience writing press releases and media advisories.
  • Previous experience pitching stories to media.
  • Prior television and video production experience.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office.

PAY RANGE$57,489.08 - $86,233.61

Pay is based on many aspects which vary based on position. These include labor markets and, in some instances, may include education, work experience and certifications.
