The Public Relations Specialist is responsible for supporting the day-to-day public relations efforts for Andersen and its business divisions. This position assists in the development and implementation of PR strategies to position and promote Andersen’s business accomplishments, product innovation, sustainability efforts and community outreach to the appropriate trade, national and local media outlets. In this role, you will help support the development and implementation of public relations and influencer strategies to support corporate brand and product communications.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Conceptualize, develop and produce fresh story ideas and create compelling content for multi-channel distribution to reach external and internal audiences. Help manage editorial plan for trade, local and national media, including award program nominations. Responsible for developing strategies to successfully pitch content and experts to journalists, partnering with industry experts and influencers to develop content to elevate the Andersen brand, position the company as an industry leader and trend expert, demonstrate our commitment to community and position Andersen as an employer of choice. Work closely with the content, marketing, and social media teams to generate impressions and engagement and drive web traffic. 35%

Manage media inquiries and proactive news pitching to local, trade, consumer, and national media. Write and distribute press releases and prepare briefing materials. Arrange spokesperson press interviews and coordinate media opportunities. Develop key messages and maintain the company’s statement/message book. Cultivate ongoing relationships with media and serve as a spokesperson for the organization. Organize press events and related materials. Monitor media coverage and online reputation. 25%

Identify and support relationship development with industry and consumer influencers for product trade and content partnerships to extend the reach of the Andersen brand, garner reputable third-party recognition for Andersen products, garner on-brand assets and secure earned media coverage and owned content. 25%

Track, communicate and evaluate progress of PR and influencer projects and metrics throughout process. 15%

MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in public relations or media relations 
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism or another relevant field 
  • Familiarity working with media monitoring tools like Cision, Meltwater, Vocus, etc. 
  • PR agency experience is a plus, or similarly demonstrated in-house PR success 
  • Previous experience creating influencer strategies and facilitating, scoping and managing talent contracts 
  • Be a strong communicator in written and spoken English 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft (MS) Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 
  • Proficient in Associated Press (AP) style Writing samples required
