Remote Work Option: 

This role will fall under Core Creative's work from home structure that allows the employee to choose where to work from. We realize that some days it is simply more efficient for you to work from your home office, while on other days it may be easier to book an office space and work from the Core Creative offices. This policy is grounded in both our trust in our hard-working and dedicated employees, as well as our desire to create work life balance for those employees to the best of our ability. If this sounds like you, then we might be your perfect fit. We are looking for an PR professional who loves media relations and can help lead and support several clients.

As a PR Specialist for Core, you will help lead PR and media outreach efforts for two of our largest clients. You will be the point-of-contact for daily client activities, providing ongoing counsel and planning support. In addition, you’ll work behind the scenes securing media coverage (local, regional, national business and key trade outlets), as well as writing press releases, articles, and other forms of content. This position offers an opportunity to learn every aspect of the agency, and ultimately provide a path for continued and rewarding growth.

Reports to the Public Relations/Internal Communications Strategist.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serves as day-to-day contact for assigned client(s) by checking for and responding promptly to all client communications. Serves in a support role to senior staff members on high-profile accounts. 
  • Assists in the development and implementation of proposals and public relations plans. 
  • Gathers and assembles client input and relevant background information to develop project briefs. 
  • Responsible for writing and preparing client documents and deliverables (i.e., news releases, articles/blogs, organic social posts/engagement, reports). Maintains accurate brand messaging, tone, and voice in all deliverables. 
  • Understands content strategy and adheres to documented strategy to guide execution and content creation. 
  • Conducts ongoing media relations activity by pitching local, regional, national and trade media. 
  • Handles the creation and deployment of thought leadership content across all platforms. 
  • Develops and maintains media lists and editorial calendars and cultivates media relationships for assigned accounts. Working knowledge of Cision or similar platform preferred. 
  • Maintains accurate, and up-to-date content calendars. 
  • Conducts media research and stays connected with relevant news coverage of our clients and their competitors. Monitors for coverage across all channels, sharing with clients as secured. 
  • Provides regular reports to both internal team and client to help with ongoing planning and pitch opportunities. 
  • Assembles weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports as required by clients, taking the lead on insights and analysis, as well as leading reviews of reports with clients. 
  • Assists with the coordination and planning of special events, as needed. 
  • Ability to be proactive and keep apprised of clients’ brands/products/services/marketing developments.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to lead and be client-facing. 
  • Write and communicate to vast audiences with differing needs. 
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of and adherence to AP style. 
  • Superior organization skills, self-motivated, with the ability to multitask. 
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines, while being detail oriented. 
  • Ability to work with a wide range of personalities. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. 
  • Natural tendency to be curious about emerging communication trends and considers oneself to be a “news junkie.” 

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 5-7 years agency experience. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
