Position Highlights:

The Public Relations Specialist will provide support to the PR team and help maintain a positive image for the world’s largest humanitarian organization and its members. The PR Specialist will be responsible for writing and promoting stories to international media outlets, supporting the global PR grant program, monitoring, and producing reports on media relations efforts, managing select sponsorship opportunities, and developing and maintaining essential PR materials to help aid the organization and its members with their proactive PR needs.

What You’ll Do:

  • Research creative story angles and write press releases and news stories for local, national, and international media. Build and maintain media lists. Pitch press releases and feature ideas by phone or email to national and international journalists across print, broadcast, and online outlets. 
  • Manage and support select sponsorship opportunities and other special events. 
  • Monitor press coverage, track results, and communicate issues and opportunities to internal teams. Create media monitoring reports for sponsorships and PR campaigns. 
  • Provide support for the global PR grants program by overseeing the qualitative review of applications and post-campaign reports. Report program updates to association managers and leaders, and provide support and PR counsel to PR grant applicants. 
  • Write blogs to guide and empower Lions in local PR efforts. 
  • Create and maintain public relations materials that help media and Lions members promote the good works of Lions to publics globally. 
  • Manage public service announcement campaigns and work with vendors to distribute radio and television PSA assets to international media markets.

We’re Looking for Someone With:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in public relations, journalism or communications from a four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • 2+ years of experience in a PR firm, corporate communications team or traditional media. 
  • Experience working with media monitoring platforms. 
  • International PR experience is a plus.
