Job Description:

In this role, you will work closely with marketing leads, creative, social, and other disciplines to conceive campaigns and flawlessly bring them to life.

Some things you can expect to do:

  • Draft and distribute news releases and media pitches for corporate and regional purposes on a variety of topics including projects, new hires and corporate initiatives. 
  • Identify timely opportunities to drive brand awareness, expertise and business development for company sectors and services. 
  • Respond and/or coordinate response to incoming media inquiries. Draft and distribute media statements. 
  • Build and maintain media lists. Stay current on relevant news outlets and reporters.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local and regional media. 
  • Draft content for owned channels (i.e. social media channels and corporate blog) to amplify successful PR efforts and regionally driven accomplishments and achievements.

Success in this role requires solid knowledge of the media landscape including areas of editorial focus, typical deadlines, reporters; ability to develop and implement a media relations plan for a project or event; excellent writing skills, ability to distill complex messaging into concise, spare language; a strong knowledge of AP style; and familiarity and working knowledge of PR tools such as Cision.

To be successful in this role, a bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications or marketing (or comparable) and three to five years of experience in public relations or communications.
