ROLE: Public Relations Strategist

PURPOSE: The Lola Red PR Strategistis a dynamic, client-facing role that develops and executes original and effective public relations strategies that accomplish client objectives. In addition to supporting client goals, this role works closely with our Digital + Social teams to help develop best-in-class integrated campaigns on behalf of our clients as well as providing strategic guidance and leadership to our PR teams.

FOCUS:

  • 30% ongoing PR execution of Lola Red top-tier accounts 
  • 25% strategic PR guidance and leadership 
  • 15% client management 
  • 20% team management/education and oversight 
  • 10% new business

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Media relations:

  • Develop newsmaking public relations strategies and plans and oversee concept, execution, management and reporting on behalf of Lola Red clients 
  • Support team in finalizing drafts of internal and external documents: pitches, news releases, talking points, fact sheets, bios, agendas, basic newsletter and website content, creative briefs 
  • Work with Digital + Social teams on integrated campaign development and amplification opportunities for client campaigns 
  • Provides strategic insight and expertise on holistic campaigns that speak to consumers and strategic needs that address client challenges and goals 
  • Leverages excellent relationships with media on the local, regional and national level, and across all mediums to deliver results on behalf of all clients 
  • Boasts a dynamic and close-knit freelance network of media 
  • Participate in and conduct media training sessions and media interviews

Leadership:

  • Participate in weekly departmental meetings to align public relations department, measure success, identify areas of concern and establish necessary solutions 
  • Maintain and educate public relations team surrounding effective and strategic public relations writing and messaging practices 
  • Work with Account teams to achieve KPIs for specific client accounts to ensure client satisfaction, growth and retention 
  • Act as a mentor and guide to all members of the public relations team to help them grow personally and professionally

Business Development:

  • Work with the growth team to establish strategic public relations campaigns for new clients 
  • Close or help to close new business opportunities through the development and execution of presentations and proposals 
  • Identify new business prospects 
  • Research and monitor clients business and industry to grow knowledge base and identify upsell opportunities 
  • Sustain and grow the client by delivering superior work and consistent results and regularly generating fresh ideas for clients

Administrative:

  • Maintain knowledge on a client’s budget and allotted hours to effectively manage and complete tasks at hand while maintaining profitability 
  • Ensure client KPIs are met and tracked through a departmental EOS scorecard

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5-7 years in public relations, media relations background preferred 
  • 3-5+ years prior agency experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, strategic communications, marketing and/or communications 
  • Proven leadership in managing, guiding and successfully developing a team 
  • 5+ years of client-facing interaction and management of strategic public relations, marketing or communications strategies 
  • Strong understanding of current media landscape and earned media strategies, plus established relationships with local regional and national media 
  • Strong project management and budgeting skills 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills as well as proofreading and editing skills 
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Work in a faced-paced, deadline-driven work environment
