What you will do:

The QBP Brands Product Manager II collaboratively defines product strategy and product assortment and drives on-time product development of the assigned product lines. This role will be within the QBP Proprietary Brands (Salsa, Surly, MSW, All-City) with a focus on the cargo category, inclusive of bags and racks. Working in collaboration with the brand team(s) and the Product Development organization, the QBP Brands Product Manager II will lead development from concept to on-time delivery of the cargo category.

Organizational/Reporting Structure: This is a full-time position and reports to the QBP Brands Category Manager – Softgoods.

The QBP Brands Product Manager II’s main things are:

1. Creates Product Vision/Strategy of the proprietary brand’s cargo category collaboratively and with expertise

2. Executes Product Development in collaboration with global cross-functional teams

3. Product execution and systems compliance including:

  • Execute upon the proprietary brands' cargo category via product development objectives, strategies, and plans in alignment with the business objectives and strategies 
  • Responsible for all facets of the product including the product itself, packaging, and instructions 
  • Responsible for generating a three-to-five-year vision for the proprietary brand’s cargo category in collaboration with QBP Brand Product Director and Category Manager to support brand initiatives and financial goals. 
  • Actively participates and contributes to Go-To-Market activities in collaboration with cross-functional teams to define product strategy and find alignment on future product deliverables. 
  • Responsible for identifying Research and Development initiatives and collaborating toward outcomes that Advance Bike-Kind 
  • Responsible for leading the proprietary cargo category product execution from start to finish from writing product concept documentation to making the product orderable including management of material number lifecycle 
  • Plan, manage, and coordinate all development projects for the proprietary cargo category with clear and directional communication and coordination amongst all functional areas 
  • Manages and maintains the product Line Plan for the proprietary cargo category to communicate the product line directly across the organization 
  • Responsible for working with Supply Chain, Product Safety and Compliance, and Development Teams to develop and meet expectations for qualification and quality assurance 
  • Conduct pre-costing and ROI exercises to ensure developments meet brand margin standards 
  • Collaborates with category manager on product line direction and brand margin targets for the proprietary cargo category 
  • Collaborates with category manager and sales to establish product margin goals and market opportunities for product initiatives 
  • Collaborates with Industrial Design, Engineering, and Product Safety to develop compelling products aligned with brand initiatives and points of differentiation within the marketplace 
  • Collaborates with purchasing, sales, and demand planning teams on planning forecasts 
  • Collaborates with go-to-market teams on the product name and packaging needs 
  • Collaborates with Project Management to establish a development calendar and resource capacity for planned projects 
  • Collaborates with QBP Brand Product Director, Category Manager, and Supply Chain on Sourcing strategy 
  • Presents key cargo category product initiatives to internal and external customers 
  • Track industry and consumer trends to plan market-forward product initiatives that are desirable and competitive for all stakeholders 
  • Proactively manages product lifecycles by aligning knowledge of industry trends with brand sales data and product line priorities 
  • Identifies new needs related to product development and works collaboratively with Supply Chain on new supplier qualification and selection 
  • Consistently improve overall product range and individual product details each model year 
  • Scope and participate in negotiation with potential and existing suppliers 
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers 
  • Represent QBP with integrity 
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned

What you need to succeed:

  • A passion for cycling 
  • Understanding of the diverse cycling marketplaces, distribution channels, and consumers 
  • 3-10 years of relevant product management, preferably with bags and racks 
  • Strong business acumen including financial analysis and retail math skills 
  • Technical knowledge of bicycles and components and mechanical ability to work on them 
  • Ability and desire to test bicycle components, or identify individuals who will 
  • A strong desire to learn from others 
  • Exceptional communication skills with a collaborative spirit 
  • Ability to balance strategic planning with detailed task-level execution 
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity 
  • Proven organizational skills 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in different phases of development 
  • Practice and exhibit high self-awareness 
  • Domestic and International travel required 10-20% of weeks annually depending on responsibilities. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required. Must be eligible to obtain international travel documents. 
  • Able to use phone and computer extensively on a daily basis

Compensation Range: $80,000 to $92,000 (Salary is based on experience).
