Johnson Fitness and Wellness (JFW), the largest specialty fitness retailer in the US, is looking for a marketing professional with planning, influencing, and decision-making skills, as well as passion for developing creative programs and traffic-driving solutions that resonate with local customers.Centered in the retail division’s marketing department, this person will be responsible for the management and execution of market intensification, regional programs, and retail communications for a variety of store-level and company-level initiatives intended to strengthen brand position and increase store sales. This position will report to the Sr. Director of Marketing for the US retail division.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Analysis and Planning:

  • Analyze market, customer, and competitor trends in JFW store markets. Research and document needs/profiles of consumers in different geographic areas.
    Develop region-specific strategies that drive topline sales and grow market share.
    Develop a clear understanding of the financial goals in JFW regions and establish key success indicators.
    Partner with Sr. Director of Marketing, media team, and General Managers to formulate and supervise the regional marketing budgets.
    Evaluate regional event calendar and presence. Make sure JFW is represented appropriately at events and trade shows.

Tactical Execution:

  • Create awareness of new JFW store openings in key markets. Understand target audiences in new store markets as well as competitors in the area. Create media, direct marketing, promotional, and event plans to elevate the JFW name in new communities.
  • Partner with merchandising and store teams to build seasonal and product-specific store promotions.
  • Partner with internal media and marketing teams to build and execute advertising plans that drive awareness of promotions and key initiatives within specific markets.
  • Understand national marketing plans/campaigns and tailor them to specific regions as needed.
  • Partner with General Managers and District Managers to improve the visual experience in stores. Source in-store graphics displays, apparel, and point of purchase materials.
  • Support District Managers in networking with local businesses/organizations to drive brand awareness and traffic in store communities.
  • Create and update regional marketing master calendar, in alignment with marketing teams, on a quarterly basis.
  • Work with Sr. Director of Marketing and District managers on intake and approval process for regional marketing requests.

Analysis and Reporting:

  • Collaborate with marketing analyst, Sr. Director of Marketing, ecommerce team and regional leadership to establish appropriate KPIs. Ensure programs are built to both optimize and report out on key metrics.
  • Evaluate productivity and marketing strategies’ return on investment (ROI).
  • Build and communicate performance dashboards to monitor and adjust market intensification programs.

Content and Communications Development:

  • Create and grow relationships with General Managers and District Managers. Understand nuances of region and market-specific challenges.
  • Formalize store communication program that drives awareness of, and engagement with, marketing campaigns and programs to ensure success and participation at district and store levels.
  • Build content / asset library at store level for social, digital, other marketing channels. Evaluate content collection and media tools that help JFW easily leverage store-level content and imagery.

Management:

  • Growth opportunities to oversee team of marketing professionals to be assigned to this position in the future.

Marginal Job Functions:

  • This role will require monthly or bi-monthly travel to regional store locations. 
  • Other projects as needed. 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Advertising or relevant field, or equivalent experience is required

Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of cross-functional / multi-channel marketing experience, preferably in a retail environment

Other Requirements:

  • Experience analyzing retail and customer data and building cross-channel communication plans to support analysis findings.
  • Experience building marketing programs and campaigns from the ground up.
  • Strong project management skills to implement programs and report results and recommendations.
  • Interest in fitness and wellness industries a plus (but not necessary)
  • Strong writing, verbal and presentation skills required.
  • Experience partnering across marketing, media, store, and operations disciplines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding of advertising and media best practices and trends.
