A 501(c)(3) organization, Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. hosts a variety of festivals and other events, and manages Summerfest, The World's Largest Music Festival,™ an annual 11-day music celebration which averages 900,000 attendees and began in 1968. In addition, the organization manages the operations of Henry W. Maier Festival Park, situated on a 75-acre permanent site along the shores of Lake Michigan in downtown Milwaukee. The property is the setting for a series of events, concerts and ethnic and cultural festivals that attract an average of 1.4 million patrons each year.

We are currently looking for a Seasonal Graphic Design and Marketing Assistant/Intern to assist the Graphic Design and Marketing Specialist and the Marketing and Sales Department. This internship will give an aspiring Graphic Designer the opportunity to gain knowledge in the fields of graphic design, printing and production through mentoring and real world experience.

  • Revise and update existing collateral materials, including print and web advertisements
  • Layout, design and production of new collateral materials
  • Participate in brainstorming concepts for upcoming marketing strategies and tactics
  • Design digital elements for emails and web
  • Assist with design of sponsorship and grounds signage
  • Assist with proofreading collateral and marketing communication
  • Assist with photographing sponsor deliverables
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Junior or Senior undergraduate or graduate student preferred (other applicants with appropriate experience will be considered) 
  • Major or minor in Graphic Design or Graphic Communications 
  • Proficiency in InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop is required. 
  • Preferred candidates should have some knowledge of art history and business
  • Preferred candidates should have photography experience and have access to own DSLR camera, but is not mandatory 
  • A strong work ethic, organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously and work on deadline 
  • Honest and ethical with a professional appearance and attitude 
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills 
  • Strong problem solving skills 
  • Self starter with the ability to take direction well and work occasionally with minimal supervision 
  • Proven ability to meet goals and work well with others in a team environment 
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours

This is a seasonal position that runs February 15 -July 22, 2016 with an hourly wage of $10.50 and includes parking and complimentary Summerfest tickets. Part time hours, 25 hours or less, are expected for the first six weeks of the term. The remainder of the term is 40 hours a week with extended hours during the eleven days of Summerfest.
