UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Secondary Insights Manager/Sr. Manager to join our Strategic Insights team. This position will join our growing team, which has an increasingly important leadership role in driving growth for UnitedHealth Group and enabling our mission to help people live healthier lives.

This position will lead secondary insights initiatives for UnitedHealth Group and will support various UnitedHealthcare business divisions. Specific initiatives include managing a research library software platform, creating a weekly newsletter of industry insights, maintaining and updating existing market and consumer level reports, and supporting ad-hoc requests, including competitive intelligence requests.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage the team’s internal insights library and software platform 
  • Manage and create a weekly newsletter of industry insights 
  • Maintain and update on an ongoing basis a market report and a consumer health report 
  • Meet with internal partners to identify secondary research needs, define objectives, and identify sources to deliver insights 
  • Optimize research requests to ensure there are no duplicative requests and identify opportunities to consolidate requests 
  • Analyze data to uncover stories and themes 
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on secondary sources by vetting source quality and applicability, and be able to reconcile data differences (by examining sampling and methodology approaches) 
  • Present learnings to internal stakeholders in a concise story telling format using market evidence 
  • Make recommendations based on insights and industry knowledge 
  • Manage secondary research subscriptions and agency partners to ensure UHC vendor requirements are met 
  • Build strong partnerships with internal business partners and other secondary insights professionals across the organization 
  • Partner with procurement to obtain and define statement of work agreements

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years secondary research experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree; Masters preferred 
  • Experience managing research/data library software 
  • Experience managing a variety of secondary subscriptions and vendor relationships 
  • Experience creating and maintaining an ongoing newsletter of industry nights 
  • Ability to identify research objectives and discern credible, reputable information sources that are appropriate for requests 
  • Demonstrate insatiable sense of curiosity to understand the story behind the data or information 
  • Ability to read critically, analyze deeply, think broadly and write concisely for executive/senior leader audiences 
  • Experience in telling an effective story using market evidence 
  • Excellent presentation skills 
  • Ability to create and edit complex PowerPoint presentations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prefer experience in library science, healthcare, financial services, or related industries 
  • Prefer experience with Sharpr software but not required 
  • Prefer experience with Forrester Technographics but not required
