As a Senior Art Director for Store Experience Marketing, you’ll design world-class creative communications and experiences that live inside Target stores.

Creatively—you’ll create work that celebrates, resonates and helps build and maintain meaningful connections with our guest. You’ll represent Target’s brand (voice and culture) to infuse the work with an unmistakable Target approach, seamlessly integrating a multicultural lens. Your work will highlight seasonalproduct stories, and engage our guests– making it easy to shop, and inspire the joy of discovery. From a business perspective, your innovative designs deliver on business goals and objectives, guide our guests and build brand equity, strengthen guest loyalty, and ultimately drive sales.

As part of a Target Creative team of Designers, Copywriters, Art Directors, Production Artists, Project Managers, Strategists and ACD’s, you’ll collaborate with the Retail Brand Experience team –(Visual Merchandising, Packaging and Store Experience Planning & ops teams), ensuring compelling, connected, storytelling that enhances product display and experience.

You demonstrate a strong taste level and experience in photo/art direction, typography and graphic design and are confident in using design tools. The ability to convey your vision across a variety of spaces and places within the store is key. You’re self-motivated, comfortable in fast-paced environments, and meeting deadlines. You understand cultural trends, and think strategically about how to show up for different audiences. In concepting phase, you’ll ideate, collaborate, create presentations and share effectively to creative leadership and Marketing partners. In execution phase, you will design and/or oversee photo art direction, electronic and print production details. You’ll seek creative solutions to overcome obstacles, and provide feedback and mentorship to enhance skills development of your creative peers.

Critical to the role is staying current with the latest industry, fashion, cultural, graphic and technology trends and demonstrate application to projects. We will support you along the way with onboarding, as well as personal and career development, to help you grow as a strong Senior Art Director.

About You:

  • 4-year college degree or equivalent experience 
  • 5-7+ years of creative experience. 
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating breadth of design, typography and a strong understanding and application of art direction. 
  • Effective visual and verbal presentation skills. 
  • Connects creative work to the strategy/brief. 
  • Skilled in managing and executing complex projects at many different stages. 
  • Open to feedback and able to deal with change. 
  • Solid understanding of Macintosh computer and graphics industry software programs, including the CS3 suite: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop. 
  • Has an operational knowledge of font usage, file management and print and digital production. 
  • Flexible to travel (weekends included)
