Working on the Marketing & Communications team, you will lead the marketing, communication and innovation practice at the Ounce in order to help raise awareness of the Ounce and our mission, engaging the public and field to take action.

Reporting to the Vice President, Communications you will:

  • Develop and implement internal communication initiatives (in partnership with the marketing and communications team) that engage staff, drive action and build a sense of excitement and connection to the organization's mission, vision and values. 
  • Manage the organization's internal communications channels, including the Ounce intranet (where they will serve as content manager), SharePoint collaboration sites, internal newsletters, lunch and learn discussions, lunch with leadership discussions and more. 
  • Create and manage organizational key messages, fact sheets, communication tools, templates and other collateral -- that amplify our work and advance the importance of early learning and care for at-risk children and families. 
  • Establish communications-related best practices that optimize the way we work. In partnership with the marketing and communications team, promote the adoption of brand standards (e.g. editorial style, visual style) across the organization. 
  • Edit leadership remarks/talking points and PowerPoint presentations for internal meetings, speaking engagements and virtual conferences. In addition, assist in the planning and implementation of monthly all-staff meetings (both virtual and in-person). 
  • Manage the production process (conceptualization, writing, editing, design, printing, distribution) for organizational brand publications and marketing materials.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management or related field. 
  • At least three years of experience in communications, public relations or marketing. Nonprofit experience a plus. 
  • Advanced writing and editing skills with robust knowledge of AP writing style. 
  • Strong influencing and interpersonal skills, with a track record of working effectively in a collaborative environment. 
  • Creative self-starter with strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to cultivate and sustain peer relationships with diverse audiences. 
  • Strong attention to detail. 
  • Comprehensive website content management experience a plus.
