We have an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Communications Partner to join our team in Madison, WI.

In this position, you will manage the strategy, planning, creation and delivery of complex information to employees, customers, communities, key influencer groups and media through various communications channels. You will manage all facets of communications on large or highly visible events, corporate initiatives, emergency situations and community relations activities. You also will serveas an integral partin promoting a positive public image that informs customers and supports and strengthens the overall company brand.

The Senior Communications Partner leads the development and implementation of complex communication strategies to increase employee awareness of company information and activities. Establishes credibility and expertise with internal customers and provides creative solutions to guide the best methods and types of communication or marketing tools to reinforce key messages.

Accountabilities:

  • Leads the communication planning process with a full understanding of the subject matter to incorporate into communications.
  • Anticipates internal and/or external customer and community needs. 
  • Responsible for the creation of communication strategies, materials, plans and responses necessary in support of moderately complex and large-scale projects for business units, multiple departments or leadership groups. 
  • Monitors media and anticipates potential company communications or reputational risks.
  • Gathers necessary information and utilizes contingency plans and responses as appropriate. 
  • Establishes and tracks key metrics to measure success of communications efforts. 
  • Adjusts communications plans accordingly. 
  • Gathers enterprise, customer and community focused stories from across the organization to share and pitch to media outlets and internal publications on a regular basis. 
  • Cultivates relationships with members of the media across the service territory, including trade media as appropriate. 
  • Leads communications efforts in response to emergencies across the service area, may need to travel throughout the service area in response to emergency situations. 
  • Acts as media spokesperson for complex media inquiries. Supports media and community relations plans and materials (e.g., news releases, talking points) to strengthen ties to our communities by promoting our brand and offerings.
  • May oversee the implementation of strategies and tactical plans of less experienced staff.

Education: Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in journalism, strategic communications, English, mass communications, marketing or related area is preferred

Experience: 7+ years technical and/or professional experience is preferred.

Other Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to write in a variety of styles including persuasive, brand journalism, business and financial writing. 
  • Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs e.g., Microsoft office including email, word processing, spreadsheet and project management). 
  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
