AECOM is looking for a Senior Communications Specialist to join the Marketing and Communications Team assisting the West region. This position can be based in any of the following locations:

Orange, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Dallas, TX; Houston, TX; Denver, CO; Chicago, IL

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing, researching, writing, editing and proofreading content for print and digital materials including creative campaigns, marketing collateral, presentations, thought leadership, social media and web 
  • Writing content that tells the stories of AECOM’s industry leading projects and people, our innovative technical solutions, the cities where we work, and the initiatives that set us apart such as our Sustainable Legacies strategy for achieving environmental, social and governance objectives to deliver a better world 
  • Develop and implement content for stand-alone projects like thought leadership, award submittals, project wins and new hires 
  • Editing documents for consistency with brand guidelines and voice 
  • Managing designated projects from conception through completion 
  • Ensuring adherence to project deadlines, whether managing or contributing to projects 
  • Working collaboratively with West Region MarComms team members to conceptualize and deliver marketing communications and client pre-positioning projects 
  • Working collaboratively with staff from all levels of Marketing, Communications, and Enterprise Communications within the larger AECOM organization 
  • Interacting directly with our in-house clients (business line leaders, operations and business development staff, etc.) and with select external vendors and partners

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications or a marketing-related field + at least 2 years of communications related experience, preferably within the architecture, engineering, or construction industry or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. 
  • Proven writing and editing abilities, with writing samples provided if selected to interview. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software required.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications or a marketing-related field + at least 5 years of communications related experience, preferably within the architecture, engineering, or construction industry or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. 
  • Experience with writing for multiple print and digital platforms (longer form content such as brochures and magazine-style copy to shorter formats like social media posts and e-cards) 
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects in a deadline-driven environment 
  • Knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and effective listening skills 
  • Ability to lead/manage project needs among multiple team members with different skillsets 
  • Conscientious, team-oriented and flexible: proven ability to work independently on multiple, concurrent projects with revolving, occasionally shifting deadlines and quick turnaround requests 
  • Ability to interact with fellow MarComms teammates and staff from across the AECOM organization (regional and global Marketing teams, Enterprise Communications team, business line leadership, etc.) in a professional manner 
  • Capacity to grow into role of project manager for complex projects to include multi-media marketing campaigns
