Position Summary:

Senior Communications Specialist to provide strategic communications development and implementation for Mayo Clinic's Center for Innovation (CFI). Successful candidates will possess a broad range of industry competencies, comfortable working with reporters, social media, staff engagement, etc., and have strong interest in health care innovation. This position requires strong consultative and writing skills, and someone who can be a strategic communications partner for CFI leadership.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Communications Specialist is an expert in their field of communications, media relations, social media, digital, news and/or staff engagement communications activities. The Senior Specialist will take an active leadership role across Mayo Clinic to understand business objectives, and build communications strategies and plans to support those objectives. This individual will provide strategic communications consultation and guidance to various clients, and will plan, drive, implement, monitor and measure results of communications plans to advance Mayo Clinic’s mission, strategic plan and business objectives. Develops and executes functional and cross-functional plans to advance Mayo Clinic’s strategic plan. Manages complex and cross-functional projects through entire project life cycle to achieve objectives and measure results. Proactively seeks opportunities to build and improve positive relationships with colleagues, leaders, and experts. Serves as a role model for others and represents Mayo Clinic internally and externally. Demonstrates understanding of audience dynamics and tailors delivery to achieve objectives among varied audiences. Conveys confidence, clarity and transparency in communications with stakeholders and leaders. Proactively contributes to business planning and strategy development. Proactively drives strategies and tactics forward to execution. Leads teams and provides leadership to others, including contractors and third parties, to drive execution.

Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in a related field, which may include liberal arts, business, communications, marketing, healthcare, or similar field, plus 5 years professional experience in a relevant field.

Additional Qualifications:

Proven expertise in creating and executing communications strategies based upon business objectives. Requires strong leadership, problem solving, critical thinking, active listening, persuasive oral and written communication skills, presentation skills and interpersonal skills. Proven communications consultative, planning and execution abilities. Must be able to work effectively in a consensus-style and collaborative environment that expects and promotes teamwork. Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, changing environment. Must possess high personal motivation supporting a strong work ethic, flexibility, and creativity. Must possess the ability to inspire trust and confidence, and maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality. Must be able to work independently and collaboratively to drive forward multiple projects. Has a positive influence on others. Position requires occasional travel and the flexibility to work weekends and evenings as necessary.

Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2,723.20, based on a full-time position.
