Senior Communications Specialist

The Senior Communications Specialist is responsible for supporting the Corporate Communications team with tasks related to internal and external communications strategies, branding programs, social media marketing, special events, and project management. In this role you’ll get hands on experience in all areas of communication and use your creativity to bring new perspectives to the table.   • Write and edit communications for various internal and external channels to reach key audiences and deliver against defined communication strategies. 
  • Lead, coordinate, and execute internal communications content and campaigns across multiple channels to drive employee engagement and alignment around key business and function priorities (employee messages, training documentation, presentations, etc.) 
  • Make decisions and solve problems based on policies, procedures, and business plan and receive guidance and oversight from manager. 
  • Drive collaboration between integrated teams from various communications practices to build and implement communication and change management strategies. 
  • Work with the Corporate Communications team, internal partners, and external agencies/vendors to execute projects while maintaining a set scope, timing, and budget. 
  • Help develop and monitor systems and processes to build employee feedback channels, ensuring timely and relevant responses to employee comments. 
  • Gather data to report on the effectiveness of current Tennant Company communications channels to drive continuous improvement of enterprise-wide communication.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or comparable field. 
  • 5+ years of professional experience in corporate, agency, or public-sector communications role. 
  • Excellent writing, editing, oral communications, communications planning, issues, and project management skills. 
  • Strong active listening skills 
  • Web and graphic design experience preferred. 
  • Able to communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative business relationships. 
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of organizational change management models & frameworks 
  • Make sense of complex, high-quantity information to communicate effectively. 
  • Experience within a global, matrixed organization. 
  • Build partnerships and collaborate with others to meet shared objectives.
