JOB SUMMARY:

You’re an accomplished thinker, wordsmith and student of human behavior. Your marketing and communication games are equally strong, and you’re a regular ninja who slips nimbly between traditional and digital executions. You know the rules … and when to break them. You write for people and algorithms with equal power and finesse.

You’re fluent in shopper marketing, brand voice and content strategy. You’ve got a point of view and you’re not afraid to use it. You’re both a learner and a teacher, a mad collaborator and a solo performer. We hope you’re ready for your next big move. Helpful if your background includes corporate experience, more helpful if you’ve done agency time, too. No time sheets here – that’s a plus – but also no AE, so you’ll work without a net. It’s you who’ll present and defend your work to stakeholders here in Chicago and our HQ in Cleveland.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

  • Apply sound creative strategy to all assignments for multiple brands, focusing on target audience and objective. 
  • Write strategically for 360-degree DTC, B2C and B2B touchpoints: email, social, website to retail merchandising, sales collateral and packaging. 
  • Partner with art directors to create best-practice executions. 
  • Strive to exceed expectations; deliver what was asked for and go beyond when possible. 
  • Collaborate closely with brand, product and channel marketing managers to better understand the business strategy driving the assignment. 
  • Gracefully juggle multiple projects for multiple high-profile brands against multiple deadlines … some white-hot. Some jobs are highly conceptual, some functional. 
  • Guard and maintain various brand voices on all projects. 
  • Communicate regularly with all teammates and internal stakeholders to maintain schedule and creative quality.

FORMAL EDUCATION:

Required:

  • 5+ years’ experience in consumer-facing marketing.

Preferred:

  • Preferably for CPG brands

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Preferred:

  • Interest in home décor/renovation a plus. Some DIY experience also a plus. 
  • Fluent in best practices for retailer sites, such as Amazon and Walmart. 
  • Facility with AEM sites a plus. 
  • Fast learner with proven ability to translate complex concepts into compelling copy. 
  • Strong, persuasive presentation skills
  • Big Plus: High E.Q., someone who empathizes with others’ strengths and weaknesses as well as their own.
