Located at our global headquarters in Kenosha, WI (near Milwaukee, WI and Chicago, IL), Jockey's Sr. Copywriter works with the broader team to craft and solidify the “Voice of Jockey." It is a key partner in developing written copy that reflects the tone and style of the Jockey brand across all touchpoints, including but not limited to: catalog, advertising, ecommerce, licensing, public relations, wholesale and retail.

Highly qualified candidates have previous experience writing marketing or advertising copy, plus do well in fast changing work environments without regimented layers where you partner with teams and are expected to ask questions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Continually evolve the voice of the brand; update and maintain the Jockey Tone of Voice guide as needed. 
  • Develop consumer-centric marketing copy for product-related collateral that optimizes sales potential across multiple business channels. 
  • Develop effective business relationships (both internal and external) and collaborate across multiple business/service units. 
  • Participate in product development efforts by developing consumer-facing positioning statements for testing purposes. 
  • Conduct reviews at various stages of production deadlines and review final copy for pre-production. 
  • Write copy, slogans, headlines, direct mail pieces, taglines, web content, TV or radio commercials, scripts, catalogs, billboards, brochures, postcards, print advertising, packaging, email blasts, value added content, POS, catalogs, social media etc. that complies with the brand guidelines and persuades the listener or reader to act. 
  • Proofread all collateral pre-production and, if necessary, coordinate changes and corrections.
  • Manage translation requests and maintain translation document. 
  • Attend meetings with upper level management, senior leadership team, retail, web, design and merchandising departments to develop product copy that is accurate and easily understood by consumers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Literature, Communications, Art, Art History or directly related field of study. 
  • 5+ years of direct marketing copywriting and/or sales copywriting experience. 
  • Ability to integrate conceptual design themes, marketing best practices, product-specific information, and target consumer information to craft relevant copy. 
  • Excellent language skills and a good understanding of international languages. 
  • Excellent proofreading and editing skills. 
  • Proven ability to stay on schedule and estimate/manage own time accurately and effectively. 
  • Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat. 
  • Self-motivated, organized, accountable and careful attention to detail. 
  • Demonstrates initiative in resolving missing/incomplete information or inconsistencies in project requests. 
  • Commitment to continuing education and keeping up to date with industry trends and technology.
