Responsible for providing high-level, strategic, conceptual and creative copy for a wide range of media, including: direct mail, signage, ads, web and promotional materials. Work with creative team to develop creative concepts and carry them through execution with design staff. Bring marketing and advertising ideas that build upon the brand, innovate and push it to the next level. Execute exceptional communication and presentation skills while juggling multiple projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with strategist, creative director/associate creative director and creative team to develop concepts and strategies that achieve business objectives. 
  • Leads strategic initiatives for digital and print channels. 
  • Brings forward-thinking and exciting ideas. 
  • Develops copy to support business and marketing objectives of the client. 
  • Works with designers to ensure copy and imagery aligns, provide insights and solutions. 
  • Help inspire and lead the team with thoughtful, creative problem-solving; mentor junior creatives. 
  • Works on high-profile accounts that are complex, non-routine and vary greatly in scope. 
  • Works with agency of record to bring strategic messaging in-house 
  • Establishes priorities for assigned tasks for self and others and often works concurrently on multiple complex tasks. 
  • Edits existing copy for style, brand voice, grammar, punctuation, logos, photo and copy relationships, spelling and overall style consistency. 
  • Quality checks page layouts for type characteristics and adherence to layout style, check work of others. 
  • Uphold the brand guidelines or work to establish them. 
  • Brings a collaborative, energetic, positive, can-do attitude to the team. 
  • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned. 
  • During peak times, assists the proofreading team.

Required Skills:

  • 4-year degree in English, Writing, Journalism, Advertising or equivalent with 10+ years of relevant creative copywriter experience – agency preferred. 
  • Requires excellent knowledge of functional area(s) related to the job or good knowledge related to a professional field of work. 
  • Able to consistently apply applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and program objectives when carrying out the duties of the job. 
  • May provide oversight of work conducted by junior level staff and/or review/audit work for accuracy. 
  • Must have advanced knowledge of technology to include computers and software programs such as MS Office or MAC, spreadsheets or other programs specific to the job in order to complete job duties successfully. 
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively across departments when completing assignments. 
  • Must have strong organizational skills with ability to manage deadlines and prioritize workload and make adjustment to meet business needs. 
  • Demonstrated expert working knowledge of copywriting. 
  • Must possess a strong portfolio of imaginative work. 
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel, Adobe Suite and internet research abilities. 
  • Ability to provide creative concepts and understand a high-level of retail advertising.
