About the role:

The Morningstar Digital Team is looking for a Senior Digital Content Strategist who will be responsible for providing strategic and planning support for digital initiatives. In this role you will lead and create content strategies, provide strategic planning for new content projects, participate in a mix of hand’s on project work, and become a Morningstar content advocate, champion, and expert.

The ideal candidate is passionate about delivering innovative and compelling content in multiple formats. The role requires a strategic, creative, analytical, and laser-focused SEO mindset. Producing content artifacts, creating and maintaining high standards, and an eye for meticulous and detailed execution are absolute requirements. Morningstar is a highly collaborative environment and the role requires working cross-functionally with multiple disciplines, teams, and global stakeholders. Building strong relationships, creating meaningful business impact, digging deep into data, and using a creative mind to hone business value is key to this role – all in support of best-in-class digital experiences across Morningstar domains. This position is based out of our Chicago office and hybrid attendance is required.

Job responsibilities:

  • Develop content strategies, establish content creation processes, and plan and implement content required to grow organic traffic through sound SEO strategies and integrated campaigns. 
  • Partner with SEO, writers, portfolio marketing, campaign managers and other stakeholders to develop a comprehensive thought leadership strategy that grows Morningstar organic traffic. 
  • Develop creative briefs that synthesize large amounts of varied information into audience-centric insights and stories that provide creative teams with the guidance they need to build compelling content. 
  • Guide, and support a team of writers with clear, prioritized direction to produce content in support of content strategies. 
  • Evangelize program strategy and collaborate with internal partners to scope content experiences across the web. Enable the broader marketing ecosystem to understand our strategy, what content is available, and how to use it. 
  • Act as chief editor of our blog that services the B2B audience segment. Create a content calendar that is aligned with our SEO strategy and enlist contributors across the organization. 
  • Identify strategic content targets to optimize based on the team’s monthly, quarterly, and annual goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience. 
  • 6+ years of experience in a content strategy or similar role. 
  • 3+ years SEO management experience, and deep knowledge of SEO best practices and concepts. 
  • Extremely data-driven, and a strong understanding of SEO analytics and research platforms as well as familiarity with various third-party SEO solutions (e.g., SEMRush, BrightEdge, Google Search Console, etc.). 
  • Understanding of B2B demand generation, content production, and sales funnels 
  • Experience working with business stakeholders and leaders to clarify business priorities for content and to define specific and measurable KPIs. 
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working autonomously in a high pressure, global marketing environment and collaborating with specialists across multiple teams and offices. 
  • Solid understanding across a variety of content topics including content design, taxonomy, governance, content tools and systems. 
  • Experience working with large Enterprise clients and multi-channel content creation. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, and organizational skills, communication, an ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplined team, and the ability to handle multiple simultaneous projects.
