As part of the Taste of Home Editorial team, the senior editor/SIPs oversees the editorial staff and production of the brand’s special interest publications. With a mix of creativity and detail-orientation, this individual has abundant ideas, a way with words and a love all things food and family, resulting in SIP titles that meet the company’s ambitious newsstand sales goals. This position also contributes to the Taste of Home flagship magazine. As with all Taste of Home editors, the senior editor/SIPs also pitches and creates content for the brand’s digital channels, using performance data to shape story ideas and writing.

  • Oversees the editorial planning and execution of Taste of Home’s special interest publications.
  • Manages the editors and writers who work on SIPs.
  • Collaborates closely with the senior art director on the editorial direction of individual SIP titles.
  • Contributes story ideas and provides writing, editing and proofreading support on Taste of Home magazine.
  • Writes and edits copy for print and digital content packages and themes, leading premium content programs as assigned.
  • Works closely with the company’s editorial, analytics, art, photo, digital, content management and Test Kitchen teams.
  • Tackles assignments with direction from the Content Director.
  • Coordinates multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ensures all project deadlines and goals are met. Keeps a close watch on food and lifestyle trends and tracks the competition. Other duties as assigned.
  • College degree in English, journalism or related field. A minimum of five years years proven editorial concepting, editing, writing and proofreading skills.
  • At least two years managing staff or interns. Strong interpersonal communications and collaboration skills.
  • Understanding and confidence working in a variety of content creation platforms, preferably Microsoft Word, Adobe InCopy and WordPress A keen familiarity with, and interest in, the food and food lifestyle space.
  • Ability to work autonomously, but also as part of an evolving, dynamic leadership team.
  • Confident interacting with staff at all levels, and mentoring junior staff.
  • Comfortable working in both print and digital media.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects at one time, consistently meet deadlines and catch all the details.
  • Ability to think creatively on his/her feet, set prioritiesand quickly change course as data informs.
  • Ability to see his/her role in the larger part of the Taste of Home brand and work for the success of the team.
