As part of the team, you will concept, design, present and distribute the most high-level, highly visible enterprise-wide marketing materials including: AMA Annual Report, event branding, campaign collateral, info graphics, brochures, HTML, social media campaigns, and more. You'll also contribute to the management of creative projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design

  • Designs and executes the most complex and highly creative material that supports the AMA’s overall brand strategy. 
  • Collaborates with copy team to brainstorm ideas for new advertising concepts. 
  • Independently produces highly complex, grand-scale design deliverables including but not limited to: event branding, annual reports, campaign collateral, corporate identity projects, environmental branding, banners and staging, and more. 
  • Prioritizes work in order to find the balance between striving for maximum creativity while adhering to multiple, competing—and sometimes very strict—deadlines. 
  • Independently illustrates concepts by designing rough layout of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts. 
  • Closely manages work to brand standards and core AMA design tenets to ensure designs are creative express desired ideas, represent products/programs/services accurately, and adhere to existing brand standards. 

Collaboration and Innovation

  • Lead creative execution on owned projects in support of AMA brand platform. 
  • Collaborate as part of cross-functional team consisting of graphic designers, copywriters, creative account managers, business units, and production staff to develop new approaches to creating innovative and expressive graphics that support the organization’s core initiatives. 
  • Lead and/or participate in brainstorming sessions providing fresh, thoughtful, creative ideas to solve business problems. 
  • Offer input to group critique sessions, providing feedback on colleagues’ creative in addition to ideas for new work. 
  • Mentor junior design and production teammates in AMA process and design standards.

Project and Team leadership

  • Steps in as necessary to support the management needs of Design Manager. 
  • Works directly with business unit partners to lead creative projects in partnership with account team and Design manager.

May include other responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic arts required; concentration in marketing and/or advertising preferred 
  • 7+ years work experience in design firm, creative agency or similar. 
  • Conceptual thinker who can develop and translate creative ideas into powerful designs. 
  • Experience working on team-based projects/portfolio work (copywriters, photographers, etc.) required. 
  • Ability to follow branding guidelines to ensure AMA brand identity consistency all visual assets across all media must be consistent with established style guidelines 
  • Expert knowledge of core Adobe CC (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) required; strong familiarity with After Effects CC, Keynote and Microsoft PowerPoint preferred. 
  • Ability to work in changing, fast-paced environment with proven ability to meet deadlines 
  • Self-starter who is comfortable working on multiple complex projects simultaneously 
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to absorb and apply constructive criticism from peers and business unit partners; ability to provide constructive, actionable criticism to design and copy staff as well. 
  • Proven experience in developing digital advertising and designing for maximum success in social media required.
