Senior Graphic Designer

Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President, the Graphic Designer will provide graphic design and development of materials that will contribute to the overall enrollment marketing strategy. Additionally, the graphic designer will, as needed, provide support to the digital and social media specialist. The Graphic Designer is a key member of a high-performing enrollment marketing team who will share RFU’s story with prospective and admitted students, pre-health advisors and influencers, and community and professional organizations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Translate strategy into compelling designs and solutions, including ads, newsletters, brochures, invitations, posters, flyers, certificates, and other types of marketing collateral. 
  • Conceptualize and create original design concepts and final assets for production, meeting brand standards. 
  • Assist in development of student personas that represent the goals and characteristics of prospective students and applicants. 
  • Collaborate with enrollment marketing team to establish deadlines, obtain program direction, gather assets, and provide proofs. 
  • Provide guidance to other creative members of enrollment marketing team. 
  • Send assets to designers/developers and photographers/videographers as needed. 
  • Ensure marketing materials visually comply with RFU mission and brand standards. 
  • Conduct press checks as needed and review proofs with an eye for detail. 
  • Prepare files for external commercial printers. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must achieve background check clearance. 
  • Must have proof of COVID19 vaccination or a university-approved exemption.

Required Education and Experience:

  • BA, BS, or BFA in design/art or combination or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Minimum of 4 years of graphic design experience. HTML/CSS project experience. 
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite software including design, photoshop, illustrator, and acrobat. 
  • Prior experience in a fast-paced environment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Design skills, including strong typographic skills, high level of craftsmanship, excellent color sense, and competence in photo editing. 
  • Proven experience producing message-driven visual solutions for business priorities. 
  • Ability to work/interact with diverse populations and show sensitivity for cultural differences. 
  • Strong customer-service orientation. 
  • Organization, problem-solving knowledge, and creativity. 
  • Ability to multi-task and efficient time management skills. 
  • Ability to work accurately and independently. 
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • Have knowledge of the professional printing environment and how to produce press-ready files.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a higher education environment or similarly complex organization.
