Overview:

This position supports the Design team, responsible for concept, strategy, and visual communication at Rotary International. You will have the opportunity to help push Rotary International’s visuals into new, engaging, exciting territory. Your contribution will serve to expand Rotary’s influence and recognition.

You Are Good At :

  • Creating and developing visual responses to communication problems, including understanding of hierarchy, typography, aesthetics, composition, and construction of meaningful images 
  • Solving communication problems including identifying the problem, research, analysis, solution generating, prototyping, user testing, and outcome evaluation
  • Communicating with strong presentation skills and the ability to lead design discussions - verbally engage with requesters (internal clients) to discuss strategy and concepts before visual design work begins, as well as present and explain the benefits of design solutions and verbally discuss requesters’ concerns/feedback/questions 
  • Broad understanding of issues related to the cognitive, social, cultural, technological, and economic contexts for design
  • Understanding broad issues related to the cognitive, social, cultural, technological, and economic contexts for design
  • Responding to audience contexts recognizing physical, cognitive, cultural, and social human factors that shape design decisions
  • Understanding, developing, and managing multiple brand assets 
  • Pre- and post-press skills 
  • Experience with social media, user experience, and responsive web design a plus but not required
  • Managing numerous projects and present strong organizational skills, and demonstrate creative thinking and decision making 
  • Attention to detail and exceptional communication skills 
  • Strong eye for color, photography, and typography; experience with multilingual typesetting desired but not required 
  • Working in a global environment with understanding of cultural preservation 
  • Collaborating productively in large interdisciplinary teams 

You Will Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, art, or similar field, or equivalent work experience is required. 
  • 5 + years of graphic design experience required. 
  • Experience in web or interactive design is desired but not required. 
  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, InCopy, Illustrator, Photoshop, Bridge) and working knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) 
  • Collaborative mindset – the ability to consider and try any ideas that will make the visuals more impactful


You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Developing creative strategies for projects that align with our brand guidelines, and visually communicate project initiatives that inspires user to act 
  • Actively participating with communication teams — design, global communication, marketing, social, marketing, photography, magazine, and web — in the development of visual media for print and digital material. Project categories include training, marketing, events, finance, and speaker support. Formats include: Creating print design files: Fliers, brochures, manuals, books, catalogs, packaging, logos, clothing, infographics, logos, and signage 
  • Creating digital design files: E-books, web publications, presentations, social media graphics, infographics, mobile applications, and interactive templates
  • Communicating with design manager, originator/account executive, print manager, and traffic coordinator
  • Collaborating with design colleagues, quality control, requesters, and language groups
  • Adhering to timeline and delivery schedule 
  • Providing multiple design options 
  • Scheduling review with design team and originators
  • Establishing and providing print specifications at first page proof 
  • Creating files that adhere to design department standards and best practices 
  • Managing assets and folders, following naming system as directed by department 
  • Creating final print and/or digital files; distribute to print production traffic and/or web teams 
  • Archiving project files, removing any files not necessary for reproduction 
  • Managing proofing folder in FPROD, removing unnecessary files 
  • Creating digital/interactive files for web placement
