In this role, you will play an important role on the Americas Global Communications and Corporate Marketing team — delivering internal communication programs that align and engage Medtronic employees in the Americas region to help us achieve our Mission of alleviating pain, restoring health and extending life.

You will lead internal communication strategy for the region, develop and execute an executive communication platform for the President of the Americas region, and manage the launch and ongoing coordination of the Americas region presence on Medtronic’s Global Intranet site.

You will also be responsible for understanding and optimizing our internal communication channels across the region, collaborating with business unit and other regional communicators to elevate and share best practices across the communications function and amplify key strategic initiatives from the Americas region across Medtronic internal audiences in support of our brand promise Further, Together.

In addition, as functional or regional transformations and other key initiatives require additional support, you may manage contractors or agency resources to develop and execute change management communications.

A Day in the Life:

  • Manage the Americas Region stories and pages on Medtronic’s global intranet platform, and maintain an ongoing editorial calendar for the region, and engage with the global editorial council 
  • Develop and execute an internal communication strategy for the region that employs multiple channels, tactics and appropriate regional cascades to reach key stakeholders 
  • Provide communications leadership, counsel and feedback for internal change management project teams; partner with Change Management for ongoing stakeholder identification, engagement and alignment to support the execution of change initiatives 
  • Refine and execute on an internal and external platform for the President of the Americas region, to advance Medtronic’s credibility and reputation around our brand promise of Further, Together 
  • Collaborate with the Americas marketing and communications team to ensure regional execution of internal communication plans are aligned, and elevate best practices across the region 
  • Incorporate feedback mechanisms and metrics into communication plans, and implement changes based on key findings that increase effectiveness 
  • Engage with Global Communications team members (Corporate/Business Group/Region) to ensure visibility, engagement and coordination on projects as needed

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of professional communications experience OR advanced degree and 5+ years of professional communications experience 
  • Experience in planning and implementation of strategic and tactical communications plans 
  • Experience working with large-scale transformation efforts 
  • Experience in external communications and issues management 
  • Experience working with change management frameworks 
  • Experience building relationships with people at all levels of an organization 
  • Experience in working with diverse, cross-functional teams 
  • Experience working in a variety of mediums, including print, social, digital 
  • Project management experience 
  • Ability to travel up to 20%

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Experience working globally, particularly with Canada and/or Latin America 
  • Experience in successfully navigating and executing organizational communications in a global, matrixed, corporate environment
