Medtronic is looking for a dynamic Senior Communications Specialist – Human Resources to join our Corporate Communications Center of Excellence team. In this role, you will support global communications for our HR programs and projects. As a key team member, you will be responsible for the development and creative execution of communications strategies, as well as manage key communications vehicles, calendars, and analytics. This role reports to the Director, HR Communications COE.

The preferred location for this role is Fridley, MN but it could also be based remotely.

This role requires a high-level of organizational skills, creative approach, and the ability to assess communications opportunities, understand different audiences, and engage stakeholders. A Day in the Life

  • Develops and executes communications strategies supporting our key human resources programs
  • Leverages communications to convey messages to inform, motivate, and recognize global audiences
  • Manages key communications vehicles, calendars, and analytics for the HR Communications Center of Excellence
  • Maintains strong relationships with stakeholder to support effective communications and provides counsel and coaching to ensure effective communication to employees and people leaders
  • Analyzes effectiveness of communications efforts, governs, and improves communications processes
  • Demonstrates strong skills to shape messages, create and activate communication channels, develop strategic communication plans, and provide insights and information at both the strategic and tactical levels
  • Partners with Corporate Communications to create strategic recommendations and plans to proactively advance the Medtronic brand for current and prospective employees
  • Handles the creation and implementation of multiple forms of internal strategic communication activities, programs and content guided by the Medtronic Mission and overall business strategy
  • Leads strategies, produces content, and organizes events to help align the organization's goals in support of greater employee engagement and business impact
  • Generates comprehensive strategic plans that engage employees with the objectives, policies, Mission, and growth strategies of the company
  • Responsible for planning, storytelling, writing and editing to persuade, educate and inspire internal audiences to change behavior or understand the work environment
  • Supports senior leadership in communicating key change initiatives, policy changes and other company information to employees

Must Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of progressive responsibility in the communications field, in either a corporate environment or agency

Nice to Have

  • Strong written and interpersonal communications skills essential
  • Robust storytelling capabilities
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communications counseling skills
  • Solid project and time management skills; must be able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and shift focus adeptly
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organization
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Communications, Public Relations, or other associated field of study
  • Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to engage, brief, and manage third-party vendors
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, experience with Salesforce.com, Eloqua or other eMarketing platforms a plus
