Northwestern Mutual (NM) is looking for a talented client communications technical writer and project manager that is passionate about delivering great client experiences. As part of the Marketing Client Communications team, this role will drive improvements to our client communication content and experiences, as well as delivery for assigned projects that are part of the client journeys, regulatory and product changes, and servicing communications across multiple channels.

How you will do it:

  • Content Development: Write technical copy and manage internal/external teams that write the communications – ensure communications meet established standards. Communications may cover regulatory/legal issues and technical operational processes that must be translated into client friendly language, highlighting client benefits, next steps and/or relevant call-to-actions.
  • Project Leadership: Partner/consult with business areas on delivering distinct client experiences through relevant communications that our clients understand and relate to.
  • Develop and execute strategies for implementing communication improvements that address client pain points and unmet needs across delivery channels.
  • Direct project research (e.g. use case definition, explaining and clarifying business process, impact to people and processes, etc).
  • Business Requirements: Develop requirements and define outcomes.
  • Project Management: Manage implementation including support teams, define budget needs for assigned projects and manage plans to meet deadlines.
  • Program Assessment: Collaborate with business partners and other Marketing teams to evaluate new, and optimize existing, programs and experiences to improve key business measures.

Bring Your Best! What this role needs:

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in marketing/communications, business, technical writing or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience with marketing and/or communication of operations/processes to include analysis, design, documentation, and production using industry best practices and standards.
  • Strong understanding of underwriting, servicing and/or claims process.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage cross-functional client experience communication initiatives.
  • Strong project management skills with ability to deliver projects on time, within budget and at required level of quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems using in-depth analysis and best practices to develop new perspectives on existing solutions or create new, inventive and enduring solutions.
  • Ability to negotiate, influence, and build credibility and strong partnerships in matrixed organization across journeys, business functions and levels.
  • Excellent communication skills for internal collaboration and development of client communications.
