The Senior Marketing Manager, Brand Communications and Public Relations is a connector, entrepreneurial driver of the business, skilled multi-tasker and an aspiring brand leader. The position is responsible for building relationships, leading cross functional teams, driving innovative brand strategies into the marketplace focused on PR and communications, and spearheading new market openings. They serve as a liaison to media, influencers, and agency partners to promote brand awareness through product placements, editorial coverage, media partnerships, and events. This position will support Crate and Barrel (including Wedding Registry and Trade), Crate & Kids (including Baby Registry), and Table at Crate.

What you'll do...

  • Act as a steward of the Crate and Barrel brands. 
  • Articulate and support the vision to achieve overall business goals and help maintain consistency in all communications channels and touchpoints including integration of PR and social/influencer teams and agencies. 
  • Lead development, execution and analysis of annual strategic plans including roadmaps, segment strategies and key initiatives to support the company’s aggressive growth agendas. 
  • Effectively manage the PR agency on behalf of Crate and Barrel. 
  • Responsible for leading contract negotiation and creating innovative publicity programs that increase awareness and positive perception of the brand and leadership. 
  • Maximize opportunities for publicity in all media through careful research and targeted editorial pitch plans in partnership with PR agency. 
  • Generate local awareness in key markets through identification/implementation of Crate and Barrel participation in new market as well as other community and social events. 
  • Lead product collaboration, press and events strategies for Crate and Barrel. 
  • Manage Trade PR efforts for the company, including but not limited to communication plans, Q&As, press releases, presentations, product requests, virtual and in-person events and trade engagements for interior design. 
  • Lead creation of media communications, press releases, product/image requests pertaining to all areas of the business. 
  • Manage relationships and interviews with key media outlets. 
  • Oversee maintenance of all business messaging, company fact sheets, bios and other corporate materials. 
  • Lead cross-functional teams to develop robust store event strategies, accelerating store traffic and sales growth in new markets. 
  • Conceptualize big ideas and translate into actionable plans; build consensus and lead partners across all levels of the organization to achieve flawless execution. 
  • Drive thought leadership and workstreams alongside CHRO and CMO around crisis communications, DE&I and Executive thought leadership. 
  • Work closely with PR leads in Canada to coordinate material development, outreach plans and other PR support around collaborations and collection launches. 
  • Lead monthly data analysis and reporting; able to tell a concise narrative from complex data

What you'll bring...

  • Bachelors Degree or higher 
  • 7+ years in Public Relations, Corporate Communications, Community Engagement or Event Management 
  • Experienced in managing successful business Public Relations for a leading brand and/or Fortune 500 company 
  • Expert and high level of understanding in retail markets, home lifestyle a plus 
  • Exceptional background in media relations and working wth the press 
  • Experienced to develop, pitch and execute press, events, collaborator, and new market launch strategies 
  • Experienced coaching Executives on media, and support leadership-level presentations, speaking engagements and high profile interviews 
  • Experienced executing events of all size and scale 
  • Strong writer, editor with proofing skills 
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines 
  • Comfortable with individual work environment and able to make decisions without direction 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills 
  • Experienced in managing complex projects and deliver on time, on budget and on goal 
  • Good reading, written and verbal language skills (English)
