In this role, you will be responsible for helping create and shape the message Medtronic puts out to internal and external audiences. As a part of the Creative Media and Design Services team, we create content ranging from still and motion graphics, video, social media copy, written news, white paper, and thought leadership content, and video production. The Senior Manager for Content and Storytelling will project manage and help shape the message that Medtronic is advancing.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Can serve as an in house "journalist" or "content creator" producing high quality, time sensitive content packages comprised of written material, video, social, digital, infographic and/or creative vehicles to tell relevant stories to internal/external audiences. Can serve as a creator and definer of content management strategies utilizing various content vehicles.
  • Defines content needs, targeted audiences, timing and calendars and content strategies to shape stakeholder perception and drive business results. Engages with Medtronic customers, partners, employees, thought leaders and other stakeholders as appropriate to produce content. Monitors trending news stories and key audience discussions, events, memes and other popular content to find opportunities to position Medtronic favorably and in support of business objectives. 
  • Utilizes various sources of data and analyzes information in order to assess and improve content relevance in key audiences. 
  • Track projects in Workfront and Microsoft Planner adhering to internal client requests 
  • Maintains internal client relationships and is responsive to requests 
  • Advise internal clients on content format and ideas 
  • Bring content to life through design and activation on digital channels 
  • First review of content created with suggested edits anticipating client needs 
  • Coach, train, and evolve skills of the Creative Media and Design team 
  • Work across the Global Communications and Corporate Marketing function and develop strong relationships with Corporate Marketing, Executive Communications, and Internal Communications 
  • Manage content approvals across Medtronic Operating Units and legal departments

Must Have:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree and 7+ years of experience in the communications field, including internal and PR communications experience, in either a corporate environment or agency and 5+ years of management experience, or an advanced degree and 5+ years experience with 5+ years of management experience

Nice to Have:

  • Strong written and interpersonal communications skills 
  • Proven ability to proivide communications counsel to business leaders 
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments at one time 
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with colleagues at all levels of the organization 
  • Solid project and time management skills 
  • Experience with executive communications 
  • Experience working with and managing communications agencies or consultants 
  • Understanding of basic brand, marketing and design principles 
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite including PowerPoint, Teams and Yammer 
  • Experience with Cision or other media monitoring platforms
