The Senior Manager, Internal Communications will plan, direct and deliver companywide and functional internal communications programs that help embed the company strategy and Cultural Beliefs, support business priorities and help drive employee engagement. Serve as strategic communications consultant to Executive Vice President, Supply Chain, his/her leadership team and other business partners. Design and oversee Supply Chain internal communications channels.

This position has been segmented as blended meaning the work is a combination of onsite in Rosemont, Illinois and remote/virtual as defined by the role segmentation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the strategy and execution of Supply Chain and company-wide internal communications to help inform, align and engage the US Foods workforce. Ensure communications are aligned to overall company strategy and reinforce cultural beliefs, while embedding new projects and ways of working within the Supply Chain organization. 
  • Manage high-visibility internal communication projects, working closely with leaders, including members of the Executive Vice President, Supply Chain. 
  • Serve as a strategic communications consultant to Executive Vice President, Supply Chain, Supply Chain leadership team and other business leaders. Provide solutions for effective communications and coaching to help leaders deliver relevant and impactful communications. 
  • Manage the development of content for enterprise wide and function-wide communications plans including key messages, presentations, in-person and virtual enterprise events, talking points and other supporting materials as needed. Ensure quality and timeliness of all written material. 
  • Develop standards and processes to improve efficiencies and effectiveness of companywide internal communications. 
  • Measure and assess the overall effectiveness and impact of communications activities. Use data to make decisions on future communications. 
  • Act as subject matter expert on internal communications, staying up-to-date on trends and best practices in the field.

SUPERVISION

  • Reports to Vice President, Corporate Communications

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Internal: Works closely with Executive Vice President, Supply Chain, their leadership teams and multiple levels of business leaders. Collaborates with Supply Chain, Change Management and Creative Marketing teammates.
  • External: Manages outside vendors and communication agencies as needed to execute communications projects, as needed. Interacts with industry associations and other benchmarking organizations to stay abreast of internal communications best practices.

Education/Training:

Bachelor's degree or higher in communications, journalism, business or related field.

Related Experience/Requirements:

  • 7 to 10+ years communications experience (written, verbal, visual) 
  • Must have experience developing, managing and measuring internal communications messaging and campaigns that drive business results. 
  • Proven consultative skills and ability to influence stakeholders across a complex corporate environment

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Exceptional writing, presentation and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Experience in driving transformational change communications. 
  • Strong collaborative and consultative skills. Ability to cultivate productive working relationships and interact with stakeholders at all levels as a credible strategic partner. Able to gain trust of business leaders quickly and influence without authority. 
  • Advanced project management and communication planning skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects concurrently and deliver high quality work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong business acumen. Ability to translate complex business issues into readily understandable communications for a variety of audiences. 
  • Up-to-date on internal communications trends and best practices, including the use of internal collaboration tools such as Yammer. 
  • Proactive, flexible, self-reliant, problem solver, results-oriented 
  • Ability to handle sensitive or proprietary company information in a confidential manner.

Physical Requirements:

Typical office environment; some minimal travel required based on business needs.
