Senior Manager - Public Relations & Branding

The Senior Manager, Public Relations and Branding role responsible for developing and executing the company’s corporate public relations strategy, which positions Oshkosh as an innovative, industrial technology company and leader in the design, development and manufacture of purpose-built vehicles and equipment.

The senior manager is responsible for overall external reputation management, establishing and maintaining media relations, evaluating and pitching media opportunities, content development and distribution, internal media training and coaching, development of media holding statements and briefing documents, pursuit of executive speaking opportunities, identification and management of business award entries, press conference coordination and script development, tradeshow's media support, crisis communications, management and monitoring, as well as tracking and reporting of coverage. Position also supports the development of blog, website and social media content.

This position is highly collaborative and requires the ability to work well with many stakeholders, including business units, investor relations, the Oshkosh Leadership Team and external partners. The selected candidate requires exceptional writing, listening and communication skills with a strong knowledge of AP style, as well as a proven track record managing multiple high-priority projects at one time and building an efficient media relations process.

  • Manage the Oshkosh reputation across key business and trade media. 
  • Develop and execute best in class public relations strategy and process. 
  • Manage/track legal and disclosure committee reviews of content prior to distribution. 
  • Manage external PR partners. 
  • Manage online tracking tool subscriptions, searches and reporting. 
  • Consistently reinforce the Oshkosh brand story and strategy efforts. 
  • Work with key Oshkosh leaders to advance Executive Positioning platforms to drive broader awareness of Oshkosh and establish them as thought leaders in their areas of interest/focus. 
  • Develop strong relationships with business unit PR team members to ensure alignment to the Oshkosh brand and develop joint PR strategies. 
  • Lead in manner consistent with the company’s People First culture. 
  • Manage multiple projects with competing and conflicting timelines and priorities.


  • Bachelor’s degree with ten (10) or more years of experience in public relations, branding or communications. 
  • Five (5) years of people leadership experience. 
  • Travel up to 25% will be required as necessary, including internationally.


  • Master’s degree in Marketing or Communications. 
  • Strong project management and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to think strategically and possess strong business acumen. 
  • Strong presentation skills. 
  • Ability to act as a diplomatic change agent in a highly fluid and ever-changing environment. 
  • Proficiency with various web-based software applications including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, Muck Rack, Google Analytics and Sprout experience a plus.
