Responsible for managing a team that supports external visibility, product consideration, and corporate awareness. Directs the work of the public relations (PR) agency and develops PR strategies and plans. Writes and edits press releases, directs media pitching, oversees public relations social media, and coordinates public relations campaigns. Counsels leadership on the handling of public relations issues to help manage corporate reputation. Directs the development of the team. Develops and coaches' teams to be able to identify, manage, and escalate risk, and effectively manages risk within the teams overseen.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains productive relationships with reporters at media outlets. Pitches stories about the company to the media. Researches and responds to media inquiries.
  • Provides public relations counsel to executives and business-unit leaders. Provides public relations counsel and coaching to the business and management. Conducts public relations activities for product launches, responds to positive and negative media coverage, and evaluates the merits of media and visibility opportunities. Approves press releases.
  • Manages the strategy, planning, and execution of public relations projects. Manages the creation of press releases, key messages, and pitching efforts. Drives efforts that increase positive coverage of the company, products, and other assets externally. Manages outside public relations agency’s activities for specific projects and activities. Responds to requests for information from the media or designates an appropriate spokesperson.

Minimum Qualifications:

At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field 
  • 8+ years of experience as Journalist, PR Agency Account Representative, Communications Coordinator, or related field 
  • In lieu of a degree, 12+ years of experience as Journalist, PR Agency Account Representative, Communications Coordinator, or related field
