BASIC FUNCTION:

The goal of the Senior Public Affairs Specialist is to execute HCSC's engagement strategy working in collaboration with the Illinois, Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Montana plans in the areas of volunteerism, board of director placement, and other corporate and civic partnerships. This incumbent will be responsible for independently planning, designing, and carrying out volunteerism and engagement programs, campaigns, projects, or other major program functions, informing supervisor of progress as appropriate. Will work closely with civic and community based organizations and/or private companies to promote services and inform the public by creating informative materials, working with media and volunteer engagement groups on current issues or program development.

NOTE: This role is located in CHICAGO IL – relocation will not be extended, sponsorship is not available.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years’ volunteer and engagement experience from an organizational or nonprofit perspective. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to follow writing and editing protocols to compose letters and marketing materials. 
  • Understanding of Social Media platforms and multimedia. 
  • Creativity with attention to detail and demonstrated record for problem solving and multitasking with a positive attitude. 
  • MS Office expertise (Word, high-level Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and strong MS Teams proficiency. 
  • Ability to interact with various levels of management, external agencies, and companies. 
  • Community impact focused with the intent to build on neighborhood strengths, knowledge and other assets. 
  • Project management skills with strong program design capabilities to support volunteer events.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of AP Style is a plus. 
  • Advanced degree in Marketing, Communications or Business Administration.
