As the Senior Specialist for Sponsorships and Nonprofit board placement, you’ll work closely with the Giving and Engagement Director to place senior Best Buy leaders on nonprofit boards and make recommendations for corporate sponsorship giving. You’ll fulfill sponsorship activation commitments, which involves working with Best Buy leaders on nonprofit boards and collaborating with teams across the company to find internal and external connections. In addition, you’ll assist with senior leader, Best Buy Foundation board and committee materials preparation. Lastly, you’ll engage in Twin Cities Fund grant reviews for arts and culture, teens and tech, as well as career pathways.

This role is hybrid, which means you must be located within a drivable distance to our Best Buy corporate office in Richfield, MN. You may be asked to come into the office up to 3 days per week.

What you’ll do:

  • Oversee corporate sponsorship giving, including responding to all Best Buy sponsorship and corporate donation inquiries, meeting with nonprofit partners and communicating with organizations 
  • Fulfill sponsorship activation requests, including filling Best Buy tables, ensuring brand elements are appropriate and aligning on speaking points for executives 
  • Support meeting preparation for senior leaders, Best Buy Foundation board and committees by creating PowerPoint slides as needed. 
  • Review sponsorship request determinations and communicate to nonprofits on decisions. 
  • Resolve sponsorship application issues
  • Research new initiatives for sponsorship portfolio.
  • Help administer surveys (as needed) to evaluate and communicate impact of sponsorship giving programs 
  • Create standard operating procedures for trainings and giving as needed

Basic qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience working with community and philanthropic organizations 
  • 3 years of project or program management experience

Preferred qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience with a grants management database, CyberGrants or equivalent data management experience 
  • 1 year of project or program management experience in a corporate setting 
  • Expert level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PPT) 
  • Deep understanding of technology and tech education programs or experience working with programs that provide programming for youth from disinvested communities.
