This position will contribute to public relations activities for Ameriprise Financial. As part of the public relations team, this position will work closely with business partners across the firm and an external public relations agency to deliver effective earned media coverage that drive awareness of Ameriprise and promotes its strengths and thought leadership with key external audiences. Position leads media monitoring and reporting, delivering results to senior executives and key business partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement media relations strategies that promote Ameriprise and its capabilities, most notably with annual thought leadership research. Lead writing, editing, and coordinating communications to employees, Ameriprise financial advisors and other audiences, ensuring alignment with key messages and overall communication plan. 
  • Lead media monitoring and reporting, delivering results to senior executives and key business partners. Identify concrete insights that enable public relations team to align content and activity to achieve desired business results. 
  • Partner and provide guidance to financial advisors to support their media relations activities. 
  • Contribute to broader projects across the Communications team. Provide ad hoc communications support and expertise to address unforeseen issues and opportunities. Build innovative communications tactics to drive business results in alignment with the overall enterprise editorial strategy. Participate in decision-making and help anticipate unintended consequences

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates degree or equivalent required 
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience required 
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in communications or equivalent. 
  • Excellent writing and editing skills. 
  • Strong attention to detail and client-service mentality. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines. 
  • Proactive approach and creative problem-solving skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as an effective team member. 
  • High proficiency in Word and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred. 
  • Undergraduate degree preferred in communications, journalism, public relations, English or equivalent related work experience. 
  • Self-motivated to seek out additional projects. 
  • Experience with media monitoring and analytical software/tools.
