This position is responsible for leading the creative development process of user-centered design methods, human-computer interaction and industry best practices to drive useful and usable interface design solutions for CUNA Mutual Group’s corporate website www.cunamutual.com and related web properties, and web tools. The role serves as the primary driver of UX Design activities in the creative development of user experiences that enable the interaction and service of insurance products online, and will champion the customer experience across all web project initiatives while solving complex business problems through the application of great UX design.

This role requires a deep understanding of UX design, best practices in usability, web technologies, content management systems, responsive web design and HTML5/CSS. Key to the success of this position is to work collaboratively with Web Channel members, Product Marketing and Sales managers, content writers, brand managers, and 3rd party vendors.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leads the creative development process by developing information, website architecture, wireframes, design, user flow diagrams, style guides, prototypes, and other interactive designs
  • Serves as primary driver of activities in the creative development of website designs that incorporate best practices and emerging trends as discovered through market research, analytics, competitive insights, and user research
  • Serves as creative development process SME to our brand/creative teams, technology teams, consumer sales, operations, and marketing teams
  • Identifies areas of inefficiencies in our web design, makes recommendations, and implements continuous improvement activities
  • Stays abreast of, and implements, creative development best practices
  • Manages multiple creative development projects for a variety of media and/or channel partners at one time
  • Assists in troubleshooting compliance issues as necessary
  • Completes and leverages departmental direct response best practices training

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree or higher in art/design, computer science, information sciences, human factors and or HCI preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of UX design experience in highly collaborative environments
  • Experience in Ecommerce/B2B complex transactional or servicing distribution business models
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Experience in MS Office suite and design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Axure, and other web development and prototyping tools
  • Demonstrated strong consumer orientation, and desire to build and maintain a smooth and good customer experience
  • Knowledge of credit unions, insurance products, and insurance company operations helpful
  • Demonstrated experience with content management tools, page creation with a web content management system and expertise in search engine optimization in web, mobile web, and rich media
  • Experience with “Sitecore” content management system is a plus
